Hello! I am a second-year student at the University of Bristol, studying Engineering Maths:) This really gives me a sense of pride, allowing me to see my work and efforts have a real positive impact. Before University, during my A-Levels, I privately tutored many students, across numerous subjects. My students were always so happy and proud of themselves for reaching grades they never thought possible. Aside from my studies, I enjoy drumming, going to the gym and being a part of my university's RAF Air Squadron. In 2021 I completed Renishaw Engineering Work Experience. This gave me Project Management skills, team-building characteristics and other proactive traits. I have devoted 6 years to my time as a member of the Air Cadets and 1 year to my University Air Squadron. This has given me a vast skill set, making me adaptable to various situations. Over the years I have had many jobs to suit my lifestyle. These include being a Resin Caster, Delivery Driver, and Tutor.

Iโ€™m Luci, a recent maths graduate from the University of Oxford. Iโ€™ve been tutoring all ages and abilities for over five years, ranging from helping secondary school students to adjust to their pre-GCSE workload, to A level, admissions tests and interview practice for 16 to 18 year olds. I tutor primary school, GCSE and A Level maths. I have experience with children hoping to increase their grade to a high pass, but have also worked on summer schools with students aiming to achieve top A level grades and study maths degrees at prestigious universities. After working as a teacher in Spain on a two month summer school, I really hope to work as a maths teacher abroad in the future! Iโ€™m an enthusiastic and approachable tutor with a passion for learning. Please note that I am currently only taking on A-level mathematics students Iโ€™m currently working towards a TESOL qualification, enabling me to teach all around the world. As part of this I completed an internship teaching over a 2 month programme in Spain. Iโ€™ve worked as an intern for 3 months with the University of Oxford, tutoring and helping students most negatively impacted by the pandemic with their university applications, and encouraging children of all backgrounds to progress to higher education.

I like to make my lessons understanding, yet fun, so it doesn't feel like my student is back in school, but rather in a relaxed learning environment where they are free to make mistakes so they can learn better. I have various hobbies and interests, including reading, going to the gym, and watching sports, so I believe I have a variety of things I can relate to my students on, in order to build and maintain a rapport with them.

Levels and Subjects I Teach 11+ Exam Preparation (Math, Verbal Reasoning, Non-verbal Reasoning) KS3: Math and Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) GCSE: Physics and Math both foundation and higher tier A-Level: Physics Exam Board Experience Majority of my students have been affiliated with AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Cambridge. I have helped students prepare for 11 plus exam and also tutored KS3 students. Languages I am fluent in English and Urdu I can speak and understand Hindi and Punjabi SEND experience: I have experience of teaching students with ADHD and dyslexia Preferred Student Age Group I understand that one needs to adapt according to the student's age group- with primary year and middle year students you need to be very engaging and make the lessons as simple as possible whereas with GCSE and A-levels you can count on the student's foundational knowledge and use higher level of pedagogy. I mostly use powerpoint presentations to tutor KS3 students and while helping my students prepare for their 11+ exam, and it has proved to make lessons more engaging for them. However, in case of GCSE and A-levels, I invite my students to the whiteboard so we can solve, draw and practice in real-time. I believe that I am comfortable in working with students of all age groups: KS3, GCSE and A-levels. About Me I am a Civil Engineer pursuing a Master's in Water Resources Management, with over 9 years of experience in the STEM field. Since early 2022, I have taught Physics and Mathematics to Middle Year, GCSE, and A-Level students, with over 90% of my students achieving top grades (7+ in GCSE or A/A* at A-Level). My teaching approach ensures students not only understand the material but also enjoy the learning process. Academically, I have consistently ranked among the top performers: Rank 1 in my College Exam Board, Rank 5 in High School, a finalist in the International Chemistry Olympiad, and recipient of the prestigious Industrial Award during my undergraduate studies. Additionally, I earned a certification from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in "Learning to Teach Online," where I learned how to effectively use technology and innovative teaching techniques. My focus is on ensuring students grasp the "Thought Behind Things," enabling them to confidently approach any question and excel in their exams. I have a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and graduated in 2019 with Industrial Award. I have a certification in Online Teaching from the University of New South Wales. I ranked 1st in my College board exam (2015) and ranked 5th in my High School board exam (2013).

How do I choose the correct 11+ tutor for my child?

What is the 11+ exam?

The 11+ exam is an optional exam that is usually taken in the final year of primary school.

Your child will need to take the exam if you want them to attend a grammar school or a selective secondary school. Generally, children who sit the 11+ exam are academically gifted and get above average results.

What does the 11+ exam consist of?

The exam your child will take will depend on the school you are applying for. There are four different courses that can be covered:

  • Verbal Reasoning โ€“ requires good vocabulary, basic maths and/or problem-solving
  • Non-verbal Reasoning - requires abstract problem-solving type questions using shapes and patterns, and is not related to English or language skills
  • English - requires an understanding of grammar and comprehension
  • Maths - requires the use of concepts taught in Key Stage 2

When should you start 11+ exam revision?

Most of the course content will have been taught in Key Stage 2. If your child has confidently soared through everything, then a few months of revision and plenty of practice can be enough. If there are any problem areas itโ€™s wise to start at least one year in advance.

What should I revise for the 11+ exam?

Revision strategies are tailored to the different exam courses as follows:

  • Verbal Reasoning: Practice spelling quizzes and crosswords across the Key Stage 2 English course content. Also look for practice material thatโ€™s specific to the types of questions your area will include
  • Non-verbal Reasoning: Enhance your childโ€™s spatial awareness through 3D jigsaw puzzles, model-making kits, brain training games and Sudoku
  • English: Reading cements grammar and enhances vocabulary. The exam will usually have an essay question so your child should practice writing short stories within a time limit
  • Maths: Make sure your child is familiar with all of the concepts taught during Key Stage 2 and they know their times tables inside out

Are there 11+ exam online course books available?

You can order the books online and your tutor can advise you on which are the most appropriate. They can also provide a reading list that helps with the English component and verbal reasoning.

The benefits of an 11+ exam online tutor

An online tutor saves on travel time and there are no geographical limitations, meaning more options when it comes to finding the best fit for your child.

We offer a free trial lesson so you can see for yourself just how beneficial our process is to your child. Once they start, youโ€™ll receive regular updates on their progress.

With the right tutor, your child will enjoy the revision process and will have the best possible chance of achieving a place at their dream school.

Answering student's questions about 11+ level online lessons

How affordable is private 11+ tuition?

The cost of private 11+ tuition can be as low as ยฃ21.99. The price of each individual lesson is dependent on how long your child would like tuition support and how many lessons they take per week. The more they learn, the lower the price of each lesson! Why not book a free trial session for you and your child to see how we can help?

What levels can my child get tuition for?

We can help your child support with private 11+ tutoring as well as offering tuition for 11 levels. Choose from a whole host of subjects across the spectrum of school levels including 11+. Your child isn't tied into one subject or level with GoStudent. Your child may need support with 11+ at the moment but as these needs change we can also offer tuition across different levels.

How can your child benefit from 11+ tuition?

The main reason that parents often start to look for a 11+ tutor is to improve their childโ€™s academic performance. Itโ€™s needless to say that tutoring will prepare your child for important exams and tests and address specific problem areas that they might have in a particular subject. Your childโ€™s grades and understanding of the subject will improve when working with a tutor but there are also other benefits you might consider when deciding whether to opt for private 11+ tutoring. Tutoring encourages self-directed learning. This means that your child will learn to take the initiative in their schoolwork, with the result that they will feel less overwhelmed or frustrated with school and more in control of their own learning. They will also learn study skills that will help them in life when it comes to university and beyond. Whether itโ€™s learning to overcome obstacles in their studies, losing the fear of asking questions or even working on their social skills. Sign up for a free trial lesson to discover the benefits of tutoring for yourself.

What are the benefits of taking online 11+ tuition?
