Hi, I'm Chidi, 22 and tutoring English and Music! I've always enjoyed meeting new people, and helping others out with things I'm good at, so tutoring is just the perfect role. I'd say I'm pretty relaxed, confident, but kind and understanding. I like to take it easy and honestly can't remember the last time I had a temper. I crack myself up, but my friends would beg to differ. A pity chuckle here and there is enough to boost my ego. I'm a Master's student at the University of Liverpool, studying Music Industry at the moment! I’ve been tutoring for a year now, and have massively helped all of my students improve their grades & confidence In my free time, I produce music, play the piano, guitar or sing, edit videos, play League of Legends (unfortunately), and get lost into the endless void of TikTok.

I'm a medical student with 8+ years tutoring (A level / GCSE,). My expertise in chemistry / biology / maths. I have lots of experience in teaching humanity subjects such as English, sociology, and history. * Only AS chemistry and maths * I teach students at varying levels so it's important to adapt and adjust accordingly. If you're a visual learner, let's draw. If you're an auditory learner, let's discuss. If you're a note taker, let's learn the best note taking method for you! I do, however, encourage all my students to engage in spaced repetition learning. Whether we schedule that in during our sessions or if we use anki, this is probably the most important method of retaining information. Medical student with 5As in a-level biology, chemistry, maths, English, and sociology. GCSEs are all A*-A.

What our English students say

R

Rachel

We home educate our 2 boys and Go Student have really helped us to split our time between them. Whilst our eldest (6) is having his lesson online I can focus my attention on our youngest (5) and ensure that both are getting the one to one time they need but also ensuring that they are both learning and progressing with their education. Our son's tutor Justin Wood is enthusiastic, engaging and patient. He gives our son confidence and time to answer questions and uses resources which incorporate some of our son's interests such as trains and planes. When our son is struggling with an answer, Justin encourages him to have a go and use his 'train brain' to gee him on. Our son finds this hilarious and they make train sounds to help boost our son's enthusiasm which in turn helps him engage and enjoy the lesson. Justin makes the lessons fun and interesting. We've noticed a big change in our son's confidence since he's been learning with Justin and he looks forward to his Maths and English lessons. His spelling and reading has significantly improved and his maths skills are growing by the day. Justin keeps us updated with our son's progress and we talk about areas that we can focus on to help him improve further. Justin is flexible and accommodating and it's lovely to hear our son say how much he enjoys his lessons with him.

How online English tuition can benefit you

English tutoring to improve grades and self-confidence

Studying English at school includes technical aspects of the language such as grammar and vocabulary, and English literature focuses on text analysis and creative writing.

English-related skills such as reading and writing are vital throughout school, regardless of the subject matter. Learning how to communicate your thoughts clearly boosts self-confidence, improves vocabulary and leads to better exam results.

GoStudent English tutors offer one-to-one lessons tailored to your child’s needs, helping them understand where their weaknesses are in their written work and working with them to improve their writing style.

The advantages of studying English

English is an essential subject in the national curriculum. All students are required to pass English exams at primary school and English makes up one of the three core GCSE subjects in secondary school.

Studying for an English and Literature A-level or an undergraduate or master's degree can be hugely rewarding. Not only will you learn a great deal about the language, you will also be introduced to radically different ways of understanding and explaining the world.

An English degree can open the door to a wide range of career opportunities in fields such as teaching, editing, journalism and law. There is also a growing market for teaching English as a second language either at home or overseas, where the demand might be higher.

English tuition at primary school

English tuition at primary school is an excellent way to prepare for the future. Studying reading and writing helps with English language skills in general, and learning about different authors and their works may very well ignite a passion for reading in your child, laying the foundation for study at a higher level.

English exam preparation and English revision classes

GCSE exams are the qualifications students take at the age of 16. GCSE English provides a solid foundation for studying humanities courses at a higher level, and skills taught include writing essays, reading comprehension and text analysis.

If your child choose to continue to study English Language and Literature at A-level, it's extremely important for them to achieve a solid GCSE foundation.

English tutors can provide:

  • Exam technique training
  • Essay writing practice
  • Speaking, listening and vocabulary development

Working with an English tutor on a one-to-one basis boosts confidence and passion for the subject, too.

Finding a private English tutor online

During your free trial lesson with GoStudent, your English tutor will gain an understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses and create an individual learning plan that’s uniquely tailored to them.

After the lesson, you can decide which membership model will best meet your child’s needs. The lessons will continue via our practical online platform using video chat and practical digital tools.

Answering student's questions about online English lessons

How much does private English tuition cost?

Prices for private English tuition can be as low as £21.99. The cost of each individual lesson will depend on how many lessons your child takes per week and how long they would like tuition for. Book a free trial session to see how affordable private English tutoring can be with GoStudent.

As well as English, does GoStudent offer private tuition in other subjects?

GoStudent can help give your child support with private English tuition as well as offering tuition for 40+ subjects. Select from a range of subjects including Chemistry, Physics, Spanish. Your child isn't tied into one subject with GoStudent. Maybe your child needs support with English now but as their needs change we can also offer tuition across different subjects.

What are the benefits of private English tutoring for your child?

There are many reasons why parents decide to hire a private English tutor. Some parents fear that they don’t have the knowledge to help their children with their English homework or exam preparation. Others might not have the time to sit with children and work through homework. Our English tutors can take away this stress by helping your child consolidate what they have been learning in school, working through their homework with them and building their confidence ahead of their exams. You can rest easy knowing that our tutors are experts in English and have the knowledge and teaching abilities to not only spark your child’s interest in the subject but also foster a lifelong love of learning. Discover how your child can take advantage of these benefits by booking a free trial lesson.

Can my child take private English tuition online?

With GoStudent your child can get private tuition online from one of our English tutors. Online tuition is a great option for you and your child, meaning you don't have to take your child to a class or cover the cost of a tutor to come to your home. Why not see how private tuition can work for you and your child by booking a free trial lesson.
