Lower Level: History and English GCSE: History and English Literature/Language A-Level: History, English Literature, Government and Politics Exam Board Experience: AQA and Edexcel Preferred Student Age Group: Primary/GCSE/A-Level About me: Hi! I'm Charlotte! I have just finished studying my Master’s in International Relations with International Law. I previously studied, and obtained, a B.A. in History. I have always loved learning, and helping people wherever I can. English and History were always my favourite subjects during school. I have been tutoring for two and a half years now, specialising in English and History. It has been amazing watching my students grow in their education and helping them achieve the best possible grades. I enjoy reading in my spare time, particularly fantasy books, and going for long walks along the beach by my house. Alongside reading and beach walks, I enjoy playing Xbox with my family and friends. I am looking forward to meeting you! I have just graduated with my Master's in International Relations with International Law. I am fascinated by politics and law, and looking at the different ways the world functions and works together, or against one another. I have a B.A. in History from the University of York. History was one of my all-time favourite subjects, I had an amazing teacher during my GCSE’s which helped fuel my love for the stories of the past. A-Levels: English Literature, History, Government and Politics, and Religious Studies.

I’m an enthusiastic individual, that is keen on teaching children, of all ages, up until A-level. I have many different hobbies, such as playing sports and cooking different recipes, which is something I carry out in my free time. I’m also multilingual, as I can speak both Bengali and Urdu fluently. I also have experience of teaching, as I ran my own personal tuition for primary school children, now moving unto secondary school, for English, which is something that I am carrying out now. I’m looking forward to teaching Primary school children, for both Maths and English, as well as English Language and English Literature for GCSE students, and in teaching Finance to A-level students. I have successfully achieved a grade 8 for English Literature, as well as a grade 6 for English language. In addition, I studied Finance as one of my A-level subjects and achieved an A*. I just completed my university degree in Accounting and Finance this year. I enjoy teaching a lot, and it’s something that I’ve always been passionate about, from a young age. I currently also work in a primary school alongside my studies which I recently completed, by doing 1-1 with SEN children, assisting them with their learning. This supports my ability to tutor as it gives me an insight into the different concepts children are learning in school, allowing me to provide my students with the help they need, as I'm aware of how important a child's education is, in shaping their future and I hope and wish to be a part of that. I am a recent graduate with a degree in Accounting and Finance, completed in 2024, and currently awaiting my final results. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a robust understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and the analytical skills necessary for a successful career in the finance industry. It's something that I am deeply passionate about and wish to carry on further into the future.

Hello! My name is Meg and I am a university student currently studying Criminal Justice and Social policy at the University of York. I have been tutoring for around two years both privately and via this platform. I try my best to create engaging and fun lessons that are specifically tailored to a student's needs. I weekly plan lessons, covering material from the previous lesson at the start in order to consolidate and also exploring new material to ensure coverage of the curriculum. Being in university means that not too long ago i was sitting my GCSE's and A levels myself, of which I achieved high grades at both. This means I am able to relate well with the students and it also means I am very familiar with the exam board specifications and mark schemes - something unique to my age bracket. My priority is to enable the student to reach their full potential academically and in their confidence with the subject whilst ensuring the environment is safe, fun and learning is happening at the pace that suits them best. I teach - Up to GCSE: English Literature, English Language, Spanish, Music A level only: English Literature (text dependent - Othello, The death of a salesman, The handmaid's tale, Blake, Keats, unseen) I have experience with these exam boards: AQA, OCR, Eduquas, WJEC and Edexcel I look forward to hearing from you soon! :) I finished Sixth Form in 2022 and achieved grades of all 7's, 8's and 9's at GCSE and ABB at A Level. I have finished my first year at university with an average grade of 2:1. I also have qualifications in water sports and instructing (Dinghy Instructor) and teach music as a volunteer job. I have been tutoring professionally in the last year or two as well as studying for my degree.

Hello there! Hope you are well. My name is Joshua Hailey and my pronouns are he/him. I have been an online tutor for almost two years now, and I hope this 'About Me' section gives you an insight into who I am and my teaching style. Before I go into more detail about who I am, I would urge you to read the testimonials, (at the bottom of this section), from some of my current parents whose children I am teaching! These statements can help you make an informed decision and, (hopefully), choose me as your child's next tutor. I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. In September 2024 I am undertaking a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. With over two years tutoring experience, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, I have challenged and supported students across all educational stages, including primary school pupils right up to A Level students! I want your child to succeed and I truly believe they can do this! My lessons are varied, fun, but get the work done! Education is not 'one size fits all', and online tutoring is the perfect example of this. My sessions will see your child grow from strength to strength, as they learn new concepts and methods of success in their respective subject. You will not find me simply reading off a screen for the entire lesson, but you can expect interactivity to drive every single lesson that I will (hopefully) have with your child! In addition to English tuition, I also offer Primary Maths, 11+ and History. I have experience supporting students in all these subjects, and have completed them to a GCSE/A Level standard (for more information on this, please see my 'Academic Background' section). In summary, I promise to adopt a customised learning plan and positive ethos for your child across all sessions. As the parent, you deserve to feel included in your child's progress. I will endeavour to regularly update you through messages, comprehensive written reports and periodic phone calls should you want them! Here is a full list of the subjects I offer depending on the age of your child: Reception-Year 9: Maths (Primary age only), English Language, English Literature, SPaG, Reading, Comprehension, Literacy, History, 11+ (For 11+ I can only offer English and Verbal Reasoning so please keep this in mind.) GCSE: History, (Edexcel and AQA), English Language (including the Speaking and Listening component), English Literature (AQA, OCR or Edexcel), SPaG, Reading skills A Level: English Literature (AQA, OCR and Edexcel), SPaG, Reading skills, Extended Project Qualification with a literature focus. Exam Board Experience: AQA and OCR mostly, with the ability to branch out into Edexcel (for instance, due to overlapping texts and GCSE history) Languages I speak: English SND Experience: Little to no real-life experience, but I have had mentoring from an SND tutor As mentioned at the start of this, here are some written testimonials from some parents of the students I teach. I hope this enables you to see how beneficial I can be for your child's education! Jaydon's, (a year 3 English student), parent says: 'Joshua is a wonderful tutor and has the ability to engage with children in a warm and nurturing way. He is excellent at engaging my somewhat headstrong son and has not only picked up on his strengths, but is encouraging him to build on them which is increasing his confidence. Joshua’s subject knowledge is second to none, but what makes him wonderful tutor has been his ability to get to know my son, understand his way of thinking and adapt a teaching style that brings out his best work. Homework, the reinforcement of topics learnt in session and the positive feedback has really helped to my son progress well in English. My son looks forward to his sessions with Joshua every week.' Archie's, (a recent GCSE student), parent says: 'We couldn’t have asked for a better tutor than Josh. My son was struggling with his GCSE English Literature and after just one session with Josh, he felt so much more confident with the subject. There was a lot to cover but Josh set out carefully planned revision sessions leading up to and during the exams that covered all the topics. So by the time the exams came my son felt able to tackle anything that came up. Josh is incredibly amiable and knowledgeable and put my son at ease straight away. I would definitely recommend Josh to anyone who is looking for an excellent English tutor.' Kimiya's, (an 11+ Verbal Reasoning student), parent says: 'Kimiya has been having lessons with Josh for almost a year. She has improved significantly and is getting better day by day. Kimiya really enjoys the lessons with Josh and is always looking forward to their next lesson. Josh makes the lessons fun and makes sure that Kimiya has understood the subject before ending the lessons. We are very happy and lucky to have him tutoring Kimiya.' So... what are you waiting for! Are you ready to see your child thrive? Let's do this! I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. In September 2024 I am undertaking a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. Below are my other qualifications and their examination boards. If you decide to choose me as the tutor for your child I am more than happy to go into detail about my qualifications at your first session! Please note the examination board of each qualification is in brackets. This does not mean I am not able to teach an alternative exam board for your child. Feel free to address any concerns around this at our first session. GCSEs: Biology (AQA) - 5 Chemistry (AQA) - 4 Drama (AQA) - 6 English Language (AQA) - 6 English Language (Speaking and Listening) (AQA) - Distinction English Literature (AQA) - 6 French (AQA) - 5 History (Edexcel) - 7 Mathematics (AQA) - 5 Physics (AQA) - 5 A Levels: Drama (AQA) - A English Literature (OCR) - B Psychology (AQA) - B Extended Project Qualification (Level 3, AQA) - A*[star] (Focus was on the poetry of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and the presentation of female stereotypes within literature and history throughout the Victorian era) Degree (English Literature BA (Hons) from the University of Portsmouth): Year 1 - 4/5 Modules = 1st class, 1/5 Modules = 2:1 class Year 2 - 6/6 Modules = 1st class Year 3 - 5/5 Modules = 1st class (including the dissertation)

Levels and subjects- Lower level: Years 3-6; Subjects English, Science, Cantonese, History GCSE/high school: Year 7-11 ; Subjects English (Language and Literature), Biology, Chemistry, History A-level: Biology only Piano & Music Theory: All levels/ grades 1-8 Exam Board experience all levels- Science (Mainly Biology and Chemistry)- AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC English- WJEC, AQA, OCR, Edexcel History- AQA, Edexcel Additional Languages- Cantonese (Chinese) - Intermediate to high German - Elementary Preferred student age group- Primary: Years 3-6 GCSE: All years A-Level: All years (biology) Coming from an ethnic Chinese background, I appreciate different cultural backgrounds, and I believe this filters through into my style of tutoring in realising each student's needs. With every session, I aim to keep topics relatable and enjoyable for my students and also to make them understand why this particular topic is relevant to them. As I believe, this understanding is half of the learning journey that they need to make. Currently, I am pursuing my aspiration of a career in medical research. I am studying Pharmacology at the University of Reading which has enforced the importance of always striving to learn; so I encourage my students to embrace learning. Studying the medical field has highlighted the importance of teaching and learning: in particular explaining concepts in a manner that will enable a deeper understanding. As an individual who enjoys a problem solving challenge, of which I have demonstrated during my many voluntary pursuits, including at a school and at a hospital, I have communicated with a wide range of individuals. So, in establishing a student's needs, I understand the issues they are facing and find solutions to their problems. Guiding a student through revision is no easy task as no student learns in the same format. Presenting the student with ideas and having them put these into practice is what I aim for to prepare them for exams. Education: Currently studying my second year of undergraduate Pharmacology at the University of Reading. Completed and taken part in an employment and development award alongside my degree. Additional qualifications: Piano performance grade 8 with merit Passed music theory grade 5
