I am an engineering university student with a diverse educational background from different countries. Owing to my diverse experience, I am able to teach using varied curricula, adopt different systems, and incorporate appropriate approaches to meet the needs of the students. I am still a student, so I have first-hand experience with what students require from a student's perspective. Although I have around 3 years of experience working as a part-time tutor, both online and physical,  I have been tutoring as a volunteer for about 8 years now.  I have worked with students from different parts of the world of all levels and ages. Aside from teaching as a career, I am passionate about it because I aspire that "learning should be fun." I teach because I love it, because I enjoy it, and because I want to help the student improve in the most amusing way possible. As the saying goes "if you do what you love, you will do it with passion," and I am here to help the students realize that they love learning. I began my lower-level studies in Tanzania (my home country), where I picked up the British educational system. I later received a scholarship to study abroad as an exchange student, moved to the US to complete part of my high school there, and then returned to Tanzania to finish my A-levels. At this point, starting with the modest volunteer programs I was taking part in in Tanzania, this is when I first learned about teaching. I was awarded another scholarship to Turkey to start my bachelor's in engineering. And this is when I started teaching as a part-time profession, taking it to the next level. I currently live in Lithuania as an Erasmus student and am constantly exploring new adventures and experiences as a teacher through different youth programs and volunteer camps. Likewise, I can't wait to embark on a new journey with you.

I am really looking forward to helping students to learn online. As a qualified teacher I worked in mainstream education for over 40 years teaching Key Stage 3 Science and also Key Stage 4 Combined Science and Separate Sciences to GCSE level as well as key Stage 5 Physics to Advanced level. I have also taught part of the GCSE Maths specification. After retirement I continued to teach as a Supply teacher at Secondary and Primary level. Also over the last year when classes were isolating at home I taught some classes online. I always enjoy the buzz of teaching and the excitement of experiencing students learning and helping them to progress with their lives. My Physics degree was from Bristol University and my MSc from Birmingham University. In my spare time I like to keep up by reading about recent advances in Science and where we are heading. As a teacher I used to run the table tennis and chess teams and would include those activities as my hobbies. So through online teaching I look to be efficient and adaptable hoping to help as many students as possible. BSc in Physics from University of Bristol and MSc in Physics of Materials from University of Birmingham. This is why I have highlighted Physics to GCSE and A level and Maths to GCSE. However in my teaching career I have taught Biology and Chemistry over many years.

Hello! My name is Kiera and i have a first class degree in Modern History. I am still at university working towards my masters degree now! Like you when, i was in school i needed tutoring to build up my confidence and subject knowledge, and without the tutoring i had ,i truly do not think i would be where i am today- and have such a passion for learning. While i love learning- i am human and need some winding down time. My favourite hobby is exercise and second to that is cooking as it lets my creative side come out! Other hobbies of mine include: reading and travelling. I hope on gostudent i can support you with specific subject knowledge and introduce you to useful and EFFECTIVE ways to learn or revise. More importantly i want to help build up your confidence; often you know a-lot more than you think you do. But, if not, i can support you to getting to a place of assurance in your desired subject- we will work together to get you to a level you want to be. As a tutor i want to scrub up and polish the foundations you already have- which i am confident will bring closer to your target grade! I look forward to embarking on this journey with you!

I have completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham. Currently, I am studying as a postgraduate in PGCE Secondary Mathematics to become a fully qualified maths teacher at the end of this academic year. Over the course of teaching maths, I have thoroughly enjoyed encouraging and helping students to engage with the subject. My students have completed their studies not just doing well in their GCSEs, but have explained that they actually find more enjoyment and understanding in the subject. Throughout our sessions, I will use various problem solving methods to encourage students to think and explore different ideas that we will learn. This way, pupils are a lot more prepared for the interesting and challenging problems that appear on their test papers! I look forward to teaching you and growing your confidence and success in mathematics! I have graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Bsc Mathematics degree. Currently, I am studying for my PGCE in secondary maths in order to become a fully qualified maths teacher with QTS. As well as mathematics, I enjoy music and arts. I have sat the LAMDA and piano examinations up to grade 8 and bassoon exams up to grade 6.

Hi! My name is Aurora and I am a postgraduate student at the University of Manchester, studying a Masters in Development Economics. I am originally from Italy, but I moved to the UK when I was 16 and sat both my GCSEs and A Levels in London. In my GCSEs I achieved 8 A* and 4 A grades. These were the second-highest results in my cohort, despite the fact I had only been living in England for two years before sitting my exams. At sixth form, I taught myself French A Level in just one year and achieved an A grade, the highest grade in my class. I have always found learning languages an extremely rewarding, albeit sometimes frustrating process. Although languages open up doors to new ways of thinking and seeing the world around you, grasping the different aspects of a language, such as its grammar, can be demoralising. And that’s what I am here for - as a fellow language learner, I can empathise with the difficulties of this process and will do my best to make it as smooth and fun as possible. Furthermore, as a foreigner who has been through the UK education system, I am able to advise those in similar positions and facing similar challenges. Students learn in different ways, so I will adapt our lessons depending on your preferred learning style. During the introductory lesson, I will ask you questions in order to determine how you study, and your responses will shape the way I plan our future sessions. I will also be interested to know the topics you are struggling the most with, in order to give me a clearer idea of the areas I should focus on. I look forward to hearing from you! All the best, Aurora Qualifications: Msc, Development Economics and Policy at the University of Manchester (September 2023 - September 2024) BA, Economics with French and German at the University of Sheffield (September 2019 - June 2023) : First Class with Distinction in Spoken German A Levels (2016 - 2018): French (A), Italian (A), Chemistry (A), Mathematics (A) GCSEs (2014 - 2016): English Language (A), Chemistry (A), Physics (A), Further Mathematics (A), Biology (A*), Mathematics (A*), French (A*), German (A*), Italian (A*), ICT (A*), Religious Studies (A*), English Literature (A*). Hi I’m Mahnoor! I am a qualified English teacher with years of experience both in tutoring and school teaching. I teach: Primary School KS1/KS2: English Secondary/High School GCSE: English Language (GCSE), English Literature (GCSE), Urdu and Law College A-level: Law Experience with: -KS1/KS2/KS3/KS4 - English England Curriculum -Students with disabilities/special needs (SEND) -ADHD/Autism/Dyslexia/ODD Languages: English, Urdu, and Punjabi No two children are the same, so a big part of my approach towards tutoring is to adapt each lesson towards that student’s needs in order to achieve their full potential. Why learn with me? I love to deliver lessons tailored to each student that are fun as well as engaging and I encourage students to interact as much as possible. I believe it’s important to make sure students are practicing what they’re taught or revising in their spare time and I am their biggest cheer leader to push them to meet targets! I have plenty of resources for activities, worksheets, homework and especially exam revision! As well as remaining friendly and an approachable person, I also strongly believe in creating and maintaining a professional relationship as a tutor. When I am not tutoring, I like to spend my time with my family, friends and most importantly- my daughter! During my downtime, I enjoy reading, painting and trying out new cooking recipes! I’ve studied a wide range of subjects from a young age! I did my Undergraduate bachelor degree in Law (LLB) and then went on to complete my Postgraduate Masters in Law (LLM) too. After some experience in the legal sector I realised I wanted to go towards a career in teaching as that’s what I’ve always loved the most! That led me to complete my teaching qualification (PGCE) where I additionally specialised in English and worked with primary and secondary school GCSE students. Along with teaching a variety of subjects, I aim to work with students professionally and motivate them to discuss career opportunities and specialisms. Whether it’s teaching Law, Urdu, Primary Education or English- I haven’t looked back since!

Hi, I'm Mona! A little about me; I tutor Primary and GCSE-level students in English. Right now, I'm more focused on GCSE students. I have in-depth knowledge in English literature from Shakespearean plays like Macbeth to War and Conflict Poems, and more. I'm fluent in English, write a lot, and I absolutely love creative writing so that comes in handy when guiding students through revision for the English Language Paper. I'm also familiar with exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, and Eduqas. What I love most about my tutoring sessions is that from the onset, my students and I try to make learning not feel like a chore. We strive to not only achieve the educational goals we set out but we make it so that the main objective is to learn and understand, not just pass a test. I'm open-minded and firmly believe there is no such thing as a person who can't be taught. Each student is different from the next and all anyone really needs is the right kind of guidance. I am currently in University for my Bachelor's but I graduated from the equivalent of UK A-Levels with honours. My curriculum was English, Arts, and Humanities-centered so I had subjects such as Media and Information Literacy, Research Writing, Creative Fiction and Non-Fiction, Contemporary Art, etc. I used to write for a travel blog and was the assistant to the managerial editor of a newspaper company so I proofread, edited, and wrote articles a lot.

Hello! :) My name is Cécile and I am twenty-four years of age. In 2021, I graduated from De Montfort University, Leicester with a Bachelors Degree in Drama and I am currently midway through my Insurance chartership. I will have my CII accreditation by February 2026. I currently work full-time as an Insurance Consultant but the highlight of my week, is supporting students on their academic journeys! :) I have been delivering high-quality teaching in both, face to face and virtual settings, for almost five years. I have operating as a freelance tutor on the GoStudent platform, since January 2022. On the 4th of January 2024, I received my 500th lesson certificate from GoStudent and since January 2022, I have delivered over 700 lessons on this platform, alone. Throughout this time, I have encouraged an array of students who vary in different strengths and abilities, to succeed/reach their goals! I teach the following subjects: Drama, English, History and French. Drama and English are both taught from, Primary through to Degree level. History is taught from GCSE through to As/A-Level. French is taught from Primary through to GCSE standard. I also teach French to individuals who are looking to learn the language, from scratch. I possess dual nationality - I am half French and half English. I also conduct lessons providing coursework and exam help. I love keeping active, listening to music/podcasts, playing with my cat and helping others succeed, is the icing on top of the cake! If I can help someone achieve their goals, then that is a day well spent :) I possess almost five years of tutoring experience and that includes both, face to face as well as online. In 2016, I passed and achieved thirteen GCSE's, nine of which vary from B - A* grades. - Bishop Walsh Catholic School, Birmingham. In 2018, I passed and achieved three A-Levels in Drama, History and Biology. - Bishop Walsh Catholic School, Birmingham. In 2021, I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Drama including a First Class for my Dissertation. - De Montfort University, Leicester. In 2024, I started my Cert CII and I am aiming to have my full Chartership in Insurance, by February 2026. Throughout my degree: I received a First Class Honors for my 'Education and the Performing Arts' module which has proven fruitful with tutoring. This consolidated my understanding of the performing arts education policy, pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment in a time of educational, economic, technological and social change. It also allowed me to construct innovative ways towards lesson exploration including within the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) sector. I can confidently say that I have explored the place of the performing arts in the evolving English education system and in the early years, informal, community and therapy settings. My degree allowed me to submerse myself into various fields of education and resultantly, have the right exposure towards assisting students within the following categories: - EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage/s). - SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). - Primary Education. - Secondary Education. - Mature learning.

L

Lilian Isibor

He is a very thorough teacher, very patient with pupil. He was able to breakdown each lesson to easy task. I will surely recommend him. He is the best teacher my son has had so far.

M

Manny Hughes

Katie was a stand in tutor for my son while his usual tutor was sitting very important examinations. On each occasion she has proved to be an extremely capable and supportive tutor. I would definitely seek out Katie in the future if my son was to extend his online study.

C

Chloe Nwankwo

Terrence makes learning about Economics so much fun. He frequently related Economics with my other subjects (sociology and politics) which helped me to have a deeper understanding of all 3 of my subjects outside the syllabus. I also thoroughly enjoyed our deep philosophical chats at the end of our sessions about the state of the world from a Political, Economical, Sociological and even Religious lens! Terrence also gave me lots of tips about degree choices at uni and some insight into Economic History at LSE :)

N

Neslihan Sanli

Yagmur is very friendly and warm. Although Turkish is not my daughter’s favorite topic at all, she loves the lessons with her.

Everything you need to know to help your child pass this essential exam

What are GCSEs?

GCSEs are qualifications that students in the UK achieve at the end of their compulsory education.

A GCSE grade is given to each subject and calculated on written exams, practical exams and coursework.

How important are GCSEs?

GCSEs are a universally recognised qualification in the UK.

Specific GCSE grades may be required when applying for further education. This includes applications for college, sixth form and university, or when applying for a job.

GCSEs can come with a lot of pressure and expectation but your child can achieve the grades that they need with lots of practice as well as guidance from a GCSE tutor.

At what age do you take GCSEs?

Students take their GCSE exams around age 16, in the last months of the academic year at school, although the syllabus is taught between the ages of 14-16 years.

There is now more weight than ever being placed on final exams (instead of coursework), so students must be well equipped to perform on the day.

Which GCSEs are compulsory?

The core subjects for GCSEs are maths, English and science.

Other GCSEs include languages (usually French, German or Spanish), humanities (such as history, geography or religious studies), art (music, art, media, drama) and technical (food technology, design and technology, computer science).

Can GCSEs be re-marked?

If your child is on the cusp of getting the grade that they hoped for or the result simply does not seem fair, the paper in question can be sent back to the exam board for appeal.

Many students appeal exam results when they are one or two marks away from the next grade up. The right study plan and a good understanding of the marking scheme for each exam can help avoid this situation.

If your child has achieved marks close to the grade line in their mock exams, it could be time to get them some help with a GCSE tutor.

GCSE tutoring with GoStudent

Our friendly customer service team pays careful consideration to any specific needs and requirements that you may have in order to match your child with the most appropriate GCSE tutor.

The subject knowledge and passion of our GCSE tutors allows even the most difficult topics to be turned into fun experiences for students!
