New tutor
Hello, my name is Hamid Hanif and I’m currently a final year medical student with a real passion for learning and teaching. I specialise in tutoring GCSE Mathematics and Sciences – subjects I’ve always enjoyed and excelled in myself. Throughout school and university, I’ve loved helping classmates and younger students understand difficult concepts. Over the past few years I’ve supported learners preparing for GCSE exams and other assessments, focusing on building their confidence as well as their knowledge. Through my ambassador roles at university I’ve developed strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and simply. What I find most rewarding about tutoring is seeing that “lightbulb moment” when a student realises they can do something they once found impossible. My approach is patient, supportive and tailored: I start by assessing a student’s current understanding, break topics down into manageable steps, and use real-life examples and interactive practice to keep lessons engaging. I’m also experienced at adapting my style to different learning needs, including students with dyslexia, ADHD or exam anxiety. Outside teaching, I’m a keen football player and have a strong interest in sports medicine and injury rehabilitation. I also enjoy reading, exploring new topics in science, and finding creative ways to make learning fun. I’m really excited to help students achieve their goals and to make maths and science enjoyable, approachable and empowering. I began my education at St Bede’s Secondary School, where I completed my GCSEs with strong results. I then continued my studies at St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College, focusing on A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, which gave me a solid foundation in the subjects I now teach. After college, I was accepted into Lancaster University Medical School, where I am currently in my fifth year of the MBChB Medicine programme. Throughout medical school I’ve deepened my understanding of science, problem-solving and communication skills — all of which I bring into my tutoring. Alongside my studies, I’ve been a Student Ambassador, Medical School Representative, and a Role Model Ambassador, which has allowed me to work closely with students of different ages, run outreach events and develop my ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and supportive way. I also have experience tutoring, helping students prepare for exams, improve their understanding and build confidence. This experience, combined with my academic background, enables me to support learners effectively and adapt my teaching to their needs.

Lower Level: Maths, Physics, and Chemistry GCSE: Maths, Physics, and Chemistry Exam Board experience: AQA and Edexcel (iGCSE) Languages: Fluent English, and can speak Urdu (but not read or write it) Preferred student age group: Primary & GCSE About me: Hi! My name's Uzair, and I'm an undergraduate student studying Chemistry and Molecular Physics at the University of Nottingham. Over my past three years at university, I've learned a lot, and figured it may prove useful to try to help others strive toward realising their best selves as far as academic growth is concerned. Speaking from personal experience, the learning process can feel incredibly daunting at times, but I'm hoping to make it more enjoyable for those who believe that's something they'd benefit from. At GCSE I achieved 5A*s, 3As, 2Bs and a C. My A*s included Maths (which I sat a year early), Physics and Chemistry - and I also got an A in Further Maths. At A-Level I achieved A*A*A - in Maths, Chemistry and Physics respectively. Enjoyed those a lot! At university, I've been studying Chemistry and Molecular Physics. I'll be entering my fourth and final year in September, and am projected to get a 2:1!

Hi, my name's Emillie! I graduated from University College London with a First-Class BSc in Applied Medical Sciences, and I am currently a first-year medical student at Queen Mary University of London. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in science, supported by my A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and French. This combination has strengthened both my scientific understanding and my ability to communicate clearly and effectively. As a tutor, I aim to create a supportive and organised learning environment where students feel confident engaging with new material and asking questions. I understand that each learner has a unique approach to studying, so I tailor my teaching style to match individual goals, strengths, and preferred methods of learning. Whether students want to build core knowledge, prepare for important exams, or deepen their understanding of challenging topics, I focus on providing structured explanations, step-by-step guidance, and practical study strategies that help them progress steadily. My time studying at university has reinforced the importance of critical thinking, academic resilience, and a positive mindset—skills that I incorporate into my tutoring sessions. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into manageable ideas and supporting students as they develop confidence and independence in their studies. Learning should be collaborative and encouraging. My goal is for every student to leave each lesson feeling more capable, motivated, and assured in their understanding. I look forward to helping learners at all stages achieve their goals and increase their confidence. I began my academic journey at a grammar school where I completed both my GCSEs and A-levels. Studying in this environment helped me develop strong study habits early on, as well as a genuine interest for learning. For A-levels, I chose Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and French. These subjects allowed me to explore my interests in science while also strengthening my analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities. This combination provided a solid foundation for pursuing further studies in the biological and medical sciences. I went on to study Applied Medical Sciences at University College London, where I gained a deeper understanding of human biology, disease mechanisms, and the research that drives medical progress. The course offered a balance of scientific knowledge and practical skills, and I particularly enjoyed developing my ability to interpret scientific literature, conduct laboratory work, and communicate complex concepts clearly. I graduated from UCL with a First-Class degree, an achievement that reflects my commitment to academic excellence and my passion for this field. I have now begun my first year of medical school at Queen Mary University of London. Studying medicine has been an exciting next step, allowing me to apply my scientific background to real clinical contexts while continuing to expand my knowledge. My academic pathway, from grammar school, through UCL, to medical school, has equipped me with strong subject expertise, disciplined study skills, and a deep motivation to continue learning and supporting others in their educational journeys.
