I’ve had many years of experience volunteering with schools helping students excel in subjects that they find difficult. I’ve always had a passion for science leading me to have a career in microbiology so I know tutoring biology would be a strong suit. Hopefully, I can encourage more students, especially young women to pursue a future in STEM. I loved maths back in school and I do find myself still doing random mathematical questions as I love the subject. I was my favourite back in school. My teacher made English enjoyable and allowed me to have creative responsibilities, making me want to pass that on to the next generation. Apart from my educational background, I enjoy art, allowing me to be more creative and express myself in a different light. But apart from my academics, Im very creative and enjoy doing lots of artistic hobbies such as painting and drawing. My most remarkable talent is drawing landscapes. I also am a big movie buff so hopefully, I can if I have that in common with a student I use that to tailor lessons for them. BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences Primary: Maths, English, Sciences, 11+ exam, and entrance GCSE: Maths, English Literature, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, History Exam Board Experience: AQA, OCR, Edexcel, 11+, SJT Student Age: Upper Primary (Year 5-6) and Secondary (GCSE)

Hello! My name is Tricia, and I'm passionate about teaching English. With a background of more than five years in teaching English, I enjoy learning more and more about the language. I'm constantly looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow, both personally and professionally. My journey has led me to GoStudent, which I am very happy about. I'm always excited to connect with like-minded individuals. Whether it’s collaborating on projects or exploring new ideas, I believe in the power of creativity and innovation to make a positive impact. I graduated with a Bachelor in Arts in Multimedia Studies. I acquired a strong foundation in speaking English while attending university, and I became very interested in topics such as technology, media, literature, and philosophy. Through various activities we have in our classes, I was able to apply the theoretical concepts I had learned in school. I have three years of experience in teaching English in addition to my formal education. I started my career as a English tutor, where I taught the language to people from a wide range of backgrounds. I've had the chance to work with young children, students, and professionals throughout the year. I'm always looking for ways to increase my knowledge and proficiency. In order to better serve my job and the people I work with, I firmly believe in lifelong learning and constantly work to keep ahead of trends in this field.

Medicine is a rapidly changing field which requires an acknowledgment of life-long learning. During my studies of GCSE and A levels for chemistry and biology , my competence for scientific thinking has improved and has tied in with my ambitions and motivations to be a Doctor. This has broadened my method of approach to learning and has allowed me to use multiple ways in different situations to solidify my knowledge and understanding. This has proved extremely effective as it has enabled me to secure a place in a Russel group Medical School. One of these ways was realising that one of the best methods to test and improve my learning was to embrace teaching as a form of revision including teaching my peers various parts of the specification. This enhanced my appreciation for teaching and gave me the courage to become a tutor. Each individual is different, so in order to ensure the students I tutor can achieve their best, it is important for me to implement multiple methods of teaching as well as ways of revising. This will provide the students with a more personal way of teaching compared to something they may receive at school which may not be as tailored to their way of thinking and learning. Some methods includes mini-quizzing, simplified diagrams, question and process walkthroughs, and a balance of small visual, verbal , and audible cues which can make a huge difference to learning. Learning needs to be active and intuitive, so a variety of ways to learn is imperative. Maths and Science prevalently were my favourite subjects in school to learn as they had consistent logic which when understood was very rewarding. However despite enjoying the subjects, they can be equally as frustrating and require persistence. Appreciating the challenges and conceptual difficulties especially in Science and maths, helped developed my appreciation for different ways of effectively learning being required which helped me achieve all 8's and 9's in science and maths at GCSE and A's and A* at A level. Ultimately I believe being able to personally implement a range of methods to improve my own results will translate very well in my teachings to help students to also improve.
