After 20 years of secondary school classroom teaching in English and History, I am branching out into online teaching. I taught in London, at Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and have since taught in South Africa, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. I run Parkrun, grow and sell organic vegetables, and enjoy wilderness walking. After A Bachelor of Arts in History and English, at Wits University in Johannesburg in 1984, I did a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Education, in English and History. I then taught in London and South Africa for nine years, during which time I qualified with a Bachelor of Education in Applied Linguistics, from Wits University. In 1998, my family and I went to Vancouver, British Columbia, for me to study a Masters Degree in Theology. We returned to SA in 2002. In 2016, I graduated with a PhD in History, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I am currently enrolled for my TTA TEFL certificate, Level 5, to qualify and teach EFL, from April 2025.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, which has equipped me with a solid understanding of human behavior, cognitive processes, and emotional well-being. My academic background has been the foundation for my professional journey in both the fields of guidance counseling and education. As a Guidance Counselor, I had the privilege of supporting students' personal, academic, and social development. I facilitated individual and group counseling sessions, working closely with students to address their challenges and develop strategies for resilience and growth. My role also involved collaborating with parents and teachers to create tailored interventions that promoted the holistic development of each student. I am particularly passionate about fostering mental health awareness and empowering young individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. Currently, I apply my skills as an Online ESL Teacher, helping non-native speakers improve their English proficiency. In this role, I develop engaging lesson plans tailored to students' learning needs and goals. I focus on creating a supportive and interactive environment that encourages confidence in speaking, writing, and comprehension. This experience has further enhanced my ability to communicate effectively across cultures, adapt to diverse learning styles, and motivate students to succeed. My dual experience as a counselor and educator has strengthened my commitment to empowering individuals, whether by addressing their emotional and psychological needs or by equipping them with the tools for effective communication. I am dedicated to fostering personal growth and creating positive, meaningful connections in every role I undertake.

Hi! I am Lamees and am currently a gap year student, due to stury Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Durham University. During my time at sixth-form, I was one of the top students. From getting 3A*, getting Distinction in the Maths Olympaid for Girls to winning the school's Philosophy Prize I want to pass on my knowledge to others! GCSEs All 9s in the following subjects: Mathematics, English Language and Literature, Triple Sciences, RS, DT, History and German A in Additional Mathematics (FSMQ) A-Levels A*A*A*A in Philosophy, Mathematics, Economics (Edexcel) and History respectively.

Hi! I'm a second-year History and Politics student at Cardiff University. I tutor in English Literature/Language and History GCSE! I love tutoring as I enjoy helping to give people a boost in areas they may be struggling and to make them feel more comfortable in that subject. At secondary school, I worked hard to achieve all A-A* in my GCSEs, and I particularly loved History and English. I then studied History, Politics, and English Literature at A-levels, to pursue my particular interests further. This then allowed me to study Modern History and Politics at Cardiff University as an undergraduate student which I am currently in my second year of! I have experienced with tutoring my sister who is studying for her GCSES and with mentoring university students.
