My name is Una and I am from Ireland. I am well travelled and enjoy learning about different countries and cultures. I am also a huge sports enthusiast...especially running and adventure sports. I am a qualified teacher and I have more than four years of experience in tutoring students online. I specialise in Maths and English and I have experience preparing students for SATs and 11 plus exams. I tutor online only. Furthermore, I use an adaptive teaching style to cater for all different types of learners (kinaesthetic, visual, auditory). I use different teaching approaches as students learn at different rates, have different needs and learning styles. I adapt my approach depending on the student and their needs. For example, I help students practice answering exam style questions by going through past papers. In addition, I prepare for my sessions using baseline assessments to identify areas they are struggling with. I like involving the student in order to create personalised session plans to meet their needs. Also, I set homework tasks for the students to complete in-between lessons to consolidate their learning using the seneca platform. Usually, I use a "I do, we do and you do" structure for my sessions. This tends to consist of a PowerPoint with interactive activities, videos, games, quizzes and exam questions. Some resources I use include Seneca and Twinkl. I ensure that I recap previous learning through retrieval activity at the start of sessions. I address misconceptions through questioning. My name is Imad and I am currently on a gap year with a guaranteed place to study medicine at the University of Liverpool this year, having attended a grammar school prior. Tutoring has always been a passion of mine, and I have much experience tutoring in the last two years offering both a private service as well as tutoring friends and family through 11+, GCSE and A-level exams. In these two years, I have managed to perfect my teaching style to get the most out of my students. My teaching style is heavily interactive, placing emphasis on students finding answers on their own with my guidance for better understanding. In 2015, I took the 11+ exam, securing a place at all 5 grammar schools that I applied to. Eventually, I went on to attend King Edward VI Grammar School (KEGS). At GCSE level, I gained five grade 9's, four grade 8's and three grade 7's. This includes a grade 9 in all subjects that I tutor. At A-level, I gained A*, A*, A, B in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and EPQ.
