I am Jithmi Linara and I am currently a third-year student pursuing Aerospace engineering at the University of Liverpool. I am a very passionate and enthusiastic individual, and I would also say very hardworking. I do love swimming and spend an hour or two in the water when I have some free time. As a National swimmer, swimming has always been my burning passion. The experience of representing my motherland at various championships in the sporting arena has also taught me to relish challenges and work together with my teammates to achieve a common goal. I was the headhouse prefect and student representative at my school and this role as a leader made me what I am today. I was and still am a public speaker, I also have the ability to speak and communicate effectively with diverse groups of people with respect. I was given the opportunity to work as a student counsellor at a leading organization and this experience led me and shaped my personality as well and enabled me to maintain a positive attitude towards anything. I am a recent graduate from university with a first-class degree in Economics and Geography. I am currently completing my my PGCE in Secondary Education Mathematics. I enjoy working and interacting with people which led to me volunteering for 3 in Nepal and also influenced a lot of my extra circular activity such as netball, cricket and various charity work I’m involved in.

I'm beginning my fourth year of studying these subjects at university, so I know the struggles of the student first hand. Aside from my degree, I am also an avid Irish dancer and came 5th at the most recent World Championships. That's me in a nutshell! At GCSE I achieved an A*, 8 A's and 2 B's, with the A* in Maths and an AA in Double Award Science. At A-Level I took Maths, Physics and Software Systems Development and got 2 A*'s and an A respectively. I am currently in my fourth year of studying for a Masters degree in Applied Mathematics & Physics at Queen's University Belfast, which I am seriously enjoying.
