I am a passionate educator dedicated to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment. I teach Mathematics lessons and my most favorite is Calculus, inspiring and empowering students to reach their full potential while continuously exploring innovative teaching strategies for professional growth. My goal is to make complex concepts accessible and to foster a lifelong love for learning, ensuring students build confidence in their abilities to tackle challenges both inside and outside the classroom. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics, a Post-Baccalaureate in Teacher Education major in Mathematics, and am pursuing an Master's in Education major in Mathematics. I’ve taught General Mathematics and Calculus, fostering student growth through engaging lessons, coaching for competitions, and innovative strategies.

I have been a tutor since early 2020, when I started this career choice alongside working in the NHS as a mature student nurse at the University of Sheffield. I later went on to make this my full-time career, and in this time have worked with over 300 students, both long term and short term, of all different ages. I have worked both through agencies, and privately, with most of my students being referred through word of mouth. I work primarily with children in Year 5 and 6 in maths, and also children who are preparing for their Grammar School 11+ exam. However, I cover maths, English and science up to Year 8 level, 11+ exam preparation, English as a second language (for adults and children), and home schooling for primary school children. I am a member of MENSA, and I have achieved this because I work very routinely and am able to break things down into step-by-step techniques. These techniques are passed on through my tutoring, especially in maths, and I have had great feedback and results from this. I am very passionate about my career, as I love to educate others, and I believe it is so important to be a good role model and inspiration to young people, to drive them towards wanting to achieving their goals in life. My background is in healthcare, where I studied at the University of Sheffield (Adult Nursing BMedSci). I have also studied Diagnostic Radiography (BSc) at Sheffield Hallam University. I have an Access to Higher Education certificate in Health Sciences where I gained a qualification which included A-Level standard Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and AS-Level Physics.

My name is Teo and I am currently undertaking my Professional Diploma in Secondary Teaching of English at the University of Edinburgh. I have been a tutor with GoStudent for over a year now, helping students from a range of age groups and ability levels achieve their potential and acquire the results they desire. My experience stretches from S1 to S6 students, with lessons carefully tailored to each and every one of them. In addition to my experience of teaching English to students from the Scottish Exam Board, I have also gained experience with England's AQA exam board, supporting several students in GCSE and A-Level English. Furthermore, my education in Film Studies from the University of St Andrews has allowed me to support students in the subject of Media as well. I strive to keep each lesson focused on the student's ability while introducing relatable and up-to-date topics to retain the student's interest as they stay engaged for the whole lesson. Before embarking on my teacher journey, I dedicated the year 2021-2022 to my Master's degree in Playwriting and Dramaturgy at the University of Glasgow. That year resulted in my obtainment of a Distinction (First Class) achievement in that course. Over that year, I further developed my writing skills as well as my critical and academic engagement with the Drama genre. I believe this experience has proved especially valuable during my work with teaching and tutoring. Prior to my Master's qualification, I achieved a Second Class First Division result in my Undergraduate degree in English and Film Studies from the University of St Andrews. During this time, the majority of my literature skills were developed as well as my ability to critically engage with the art of moving pictures. Throughout my lengthy academic experience, I have engaged with a wide range of textual and visual styles and genres which has allowed me to provide knowledge and insight to each one of my tutoring sessions over the past year and a half. In addition, my teacher education will prove even more useful in my tutoring work as my skills will continue to develop, and my ability to support my students will continue to grow. I do hope I have been successful in representing my academic background and would be incredibly happy and excited to pass my literacy skills onto my students and help them achieve the academic results they are looking for.

Preferred student age group: Any About me: Hi! :) I am Bel and I am currently a research student. My areas of interest are mitochondrial genetics and proteomics, and I hope to complete my PhD. I have signed up as a tutor on GoStudent because I find working as a tutor to be both fulfilling and rewarding. I remember being a stressed GCSE/ A-Level student so it will be easy for me to relate to students currently at that stage. My method for GCSE/ A-Level tutoring involves using mini-tests and looking at past assessments completed by the student to identify areas of weakness, and this will enable us to develop a better understanding of those topics. During the sessions, we will also look through exam questions and examiner reports together to identify and practice the skills required to achieve the top grades. Most importantly, I will work on building the student's confidence in their subject through these tailored sessions so they can reach their full academic potential. As for primary school students, my aim is to encourage the students to learn through educational and fun sessions which incorporate their personal interests to keep them engaged. I am very passionate about maths and the sciences, and I hope I can pass that on to my tutees. My non-academic interests include: archery, painting and embroidery.
