My name is Janet but my students call me "Miss Jay". I am a passionate Biology teacher who has taught students from 8th to 12th grade. I am fervid about making Biology learning fun, this is whyI have adopted, adjusted, and used different strategies to ensure that my students understand and enjoy learning. As a teacher, I take time to interract, listen, and understand the peculiarities of each of my students. I don't just teach, I guide, and team up with my students to challenge and conquer their fears. With me, learning biology is as easy as learning to count 1,2,3... I obtained a second class upper division BSc degree in Microbiology and majored in Medical Microbiology in 2017 at Federal University of Lafia, Nigeria. For more academic development, I proceeded to study Public Health and obtained an MA in Public Health from Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom. From 2018 to 2019, I worked as a 8th grade Biology teacher at Lys academy, Bauchi state Nigeria. From 2019 to 2023, I worked a research assistant at Brainbox Research Institute Ghana. From 2023 till date, I work as a Support worker supporting children with learning at Thera East-Midlands. However, I'm also a partime online tutor providing online teaching services to my students from 2020 till date.

I’ve had many years of experience volunteering with schools helping students excel in subjects that they find difficult. I’ve always had a passion for science leading me to have a career in microbiology so I know tutoring biology would be a strong suit. Hopefully, I can encourage more students, especially young women to pursue a future in STEM. I loved maths back in school and I do find myself still doing random mathematical questions as I love the subject. I was my favourite back in school. My teacher made English enjoyable and allowed me to have creative responsibilities, making me want to pass that on to the next generation. Apart from my educational background, I enjoy art, allowing me to be more creative and express myself in a different light. But apart from my academics, Im very creative and enjoy doing lots of artistic hobbies such as painting and drawing. My most remarkable talent is drawing landscapes. I also am a big movie buff so hopefully, I can if I have that in common with a student I use that to tailor lessons for them.
