I am a third year medical student currently looking to tutor Maths from primary school level up to and including GCSE level. As well as studying, I currently volunteer at the local youth group which I absolutely love! I also enjoy reading, painting and climbing in my spare time. I have chosen to do online tutoring as I thought it would be a good way to share my knowledge with students and support them in the best way possible. I understand how difficult schooling and academia can be so I want to provide the most supportive environment for my students in order for them to achieve their full potential. Medicine is a rapidly changing field which requires an acknowledgment of life-long learning. During my studies of GCSE and A levels for chemistry and biology , my competence for scientific thinking has improved and has tied in with my ambitions and motivations to be a Doctor. This has broadened my method of approach to learning and has allowed me to use multiple ways in different situations to solidify my knowledge and understanding. This has proved extremely effective as it has enabled me to secure a place in a Russel group Medical School. One of these ways was realising that one of the best methods to test and improve my learning was to embrace teaching as a form of revision including teaching my peers various parts of the specification. This enhanced my appreciation for teaching and gave me the courage to become a tutor. Each individual is different, so in order to ensure the students I tutor can achieve their best, it is important for me to implement multiple methods of teaching as well as ways of revising. This will provide the students with a more personal way of teaching compared to something they may receive at school which may not be as tailored to their way of thinking and learning. Some methods includes mini-quizzing, simplified diagrams, question and process walkthroughs, and a balance of small visual, verbal , and audible cues which can make a huge difference to learning. Learning needs to be active and intuitive, so a variety of ways to learn is imperative. Maths and Science prevalently were my favourite subjects in school to learn as they had consistent logic which when understood was very rewarding. However despite enjoying the subjects, they can be equally as frustrating and require persistence. Appreciating the challenges and conceptual difficulties especially in Science and maths, helped developed my appreciation for different ways of effectively learning being required which helped me achieve all 8's and 9's in science and maths at GCSE and A's and A* at A level. Ultimately I believe being able to personally implement a range of methods to improve my own results will translate very well in my teachings to help students to also improve.

Hi! Im Cheryl. I studied Biology, Chemistry and Sociology as A Levels and I am currently in my Third year of Medical School. I received 11 GCSE qualifications from Dunraven Secondary Academy. My elective courses were Sociology and Dance. I studied Sociology again at A Level along with Chemistry and Biology at La Retraite Sixth Form. I am now in my Third year of Medical school at PMU.
