I'm currently a Medical Student at Barts! I'm looking to tutor students as tutoring has been a passion of mine. I have been a tutor in these subjects for over 2 years and have great interest in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. My previous degree in Biochemistry has given me a greater scope of understanding in these sciences. I'm currently a Medical student at Barts the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I have a previous degree in Biochemistry where I achieved a Upper Second class with honours. I've completed 3 A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Languages: English- Native Speaker Spanish- Basic Preferred student age group: Any age About me: Hello there, My name is John O'Byrne and I am from Ireland I have been teaching for a number of years now, Over the past few years I have been teaching English as a Second Language, I have taught online for over two years and before that I taught Academic English, Business English and Conversational English to individual students in a face to face setting. In university I studied a wide range of subjects including Philosophy, History, English and Arth History before I chose the areas I would focus on for my degree. Eventually I decided on Ancient Greek and Roman Civilization alongside Politics and I was awarded a degree with honours from University College Dublin. After graduation I was invited to participate in their Masters programme but I declined their kind invitation as I wanted a break from the academic life. While in university I participated in a tutoring programme where we went to a number of schools and helped students to prepare for their examinations. I tutored groups of students in a range of subjects but mainly concentrated on English Literature and History. These years tutoring were very rewarding as the students were from under-privileged schools and were quite appreciative of all the help we gave them. Cycling is a passion of mine and as my skill in riding bicycles developed I was given opportunities to work with a few different bicycle companies. I was given bicycles and components in order to test their design and durability. I was also asked to preform in a number of marketing campaigns and advertisements for these bicycle companies. The learning processes in the physical arena and the academic arena are quite similar, they involve focus, critical thinking, repetition and study. These processes can be sped up to a certain extent if you have someone to guide you through them. I was also given the opportunity to teach bicycle skills to various groups of people and I really enjoyed this experience. I enjoy travelling and have lived for periods of time in Sweden and Spain. I have always loved learning and I continue to read about a wide range of subjects including Philosophy, Linguistics, Psychology and works in the areas I studied during my degree. So with this background I believe I can help tutor students in English as a Second Language, English Literature, History and Classics.
