I have worked in youth services and informal education for over fifteen years, including a year spent running an emergency academic support and tutoring centre during the covid-19 pandemic. I love getting to know each student individually, understanding their interests and learning style to build lessons that help them meet their goals and grow a lifelong love of reading, writing, and learning. I tutor in the following subjects and levels: -PRIMARY: English (reading and writing), Maths, Social Sciences -SECONDARY: English and Social Sciences -GCSE: English and Social Sciences -11+ test preparation I have experience working with SEND students of all ages and levels. I am conversational in French and have basic Spanish skills. In my spare time I love to read, knit, sing in local choirs, and explore London with my family, especially my beagle mix DJ. I am currently studying towards a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences. I love to read, play badminton and cook in my free time. I am hoping to continue in the field of medical research. I am keen to assist students in Maths and Biology as these are subjects I have always been passionate about. I studied at Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for both my GCSEs and my A levels. I have recently graduated with a First Class Bachelors of Science with honours degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology. I have completed an MRes in Cardiovascular Sciences in 2023 and am working towards a PhD in Bleeding Disorders with Unknown Causes.

I did my Irish leaving certificate in Ireland my main subjects were Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics while taking on Economics and French too. Hello! My name is Isla, and I am a passionate tutor studying Primary Education at the University of Winchester. I have over a year of tutoring experience and have spent time in a student teach role in Primary Schools working with all abilities and SEND. I am also studying SEND as a specialism. My love for teaching stems from a desire to make a positive impact on young lives and help students reach their full potential. I have a comprehensive knowledge in all areas of education, having achieved highly in both GCSEs and A-levels. In addition to my formal education, I have also had the opportunity to gain valuable experience through teaching placement in schools. This has allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge in real-life situations and has helped me to develop a range of effective teaching techniques. I believe that every student can succeed, and it is my goal as a tutor to help each student reach their full potential.
