Hi there my name is Dan and I am looking to help people when it comes to learning English and History. I am 30 years old and I have a wide breadth of experience from a career that has spanned multiple roles in a variety of sectors from teaching assistant and one-to-one tutoring, all the way to construction and freelance journalism. I want to help people meet their own personal goals and what with English being so ubiquitous, it seems a grasp of at least the basics is an essential part of anyone's toolkit. My teaching style is somewhat informal with a great emphasis on what particularly interests my student because, from my experience, interest cannot be imposed on someone, it must be nurtured and addressed on the individual's terms.

GCSE: Business Studies, Economics A-Level / BTEC: Business Studies, Economics Exam boards: Any inc. AQA, Edexcel (Economics A & B), OCR Preferred age of students: GCSE age (14-15) and upward I am an enthusiastic, patient tutor with years of experience teaching business subjects at secondary school and university level. I have also worked for a number of large firms as an accountant or an analyst, so have experienced business theory working in practice. I am also a CELTA qualified EFL teacher, and have spent a great deal of my life working or living abroad in countries including Saudi Arabia, France, Turkey, the United States and Japan. For personal pursuits, I enjoy travelling, playing the piano, visiting the gym, watching Clemson University's college football team and PC gaming. I hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Clemson University (South Carolina, USA). My undergraduate degree is a BA (Hons) in English, awarded by Loughborough University in 2003. After leaving university, I achieved my CELTA certification, and worked in Japan teaching English. Later, I had a career change and started to work for a global investment bank, and have worked as a financial analyst, economic analyst and management accountant. I have CTLLS and DTLLS teaching qualifications, which I earned while teaching BTEC subjects at college.

My main hobbies are archery, reading comic books, swimming and gymnastics. I have completed my Bronze and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards, giving me a great love of hiking and travelling. At University I have undertaken multiple research placements which have allowed me to gain a lot of experience and knowledge in undertaking research. I really enjoy Psychology and Neuroscience so more than happy to talk about any areas that students are interested in.
