I have lived and worked on three continents, enjoying such diversity as Kenya, Spain, Ecuador, Gran Canaria, Portugal (Braga), Azerbaijan, Guernsey and Portugal (Porto). I now live in semi-retirement near London, in Surrey. I have been a Headteacher, Principal, Deputy Head, Head of Department and classroom practitioner throughout this time. I have delivered the national curriculum throughout this time following awarding body specifications for GCSE Maths, A Level Maths, A Level Further Maths, GCSE Physics and A Level Physics. I have taught students who are academically gifted and talented, struggling with mental or medical health issues as well as those who are disaffected with education. I have always retained a passionate enthusiasm to facilitate learning and enhance the lives of those I consider a privilege to invest time with. When I'm not helping others with their learning, I enjoy time with loved ones engaging in physical pursuits like swimming, cycling, and cooking.

Hi! My name is John and I'm a PhD student in Edinburgh. I'm currently studying Linguistics but my background is in science which I studied for my undergraduate degree. I'm part-Italian, part-American and part-British and I'm into all things nerdy, be it fantasy and sci-fi, video-games, TTRPGs or anything else you can imagine. I think that the greatest pleasure in life is learning something new so I hope to get the chance to share that pleasure with others.

I am a dedicated and passionate maths tutor who has experience for over 4 years in tutoring for SATS, GCSE and A-level students. I have an effective way of explaining key concepts clearly to student’s in an engaging and collaborative manner. My patience and experience allow me to adapt easily to the student’s needs. I tailor each lesson to the student’s specific needs who often have varying learning paces and styles. I am supportive, students are encouraged to ask questions, not only during lessons but throughout the week. Motivating students is essential and part of the learning journey by building their confidence and exploring their understanding. My main aim is to get students ready for exams through using my own structured techniques I used during my GCSEs and A-levels which helped me obtain grade A and A*. I currently have a mixture of students, with varying abilities between year 6 and year 11.

GCSEs - Maths Exam board experience: Edexcel, AQA, 11+ SEND experience: ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia I am passionate about education having worked fulltime as a tutor for over two years and in various education roles for 5 years including student outreach for a UK university supporting the learning and future education progression of students with lower predicted outcomes due to a wide range of social and personal circumstances. I have tutored over 100 students, with my GCSE maths students overachieving thier predicted grades by 1.8 on average. I currently tutor 20+ students on GoStudent and have new spaces available with my previous cohort of Yr 11s having completed their exams. I believe learning can be an enjoyable experience for all students, given the right space and support to blossom in their own time.
