After 20 years of secondary school classroom teaching in English and History, I am branching out into online teaching. I taught in London, at Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and have since taught in South Africa, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. I run Parkrun, grow and sell organic vegetables, and enjoy wilderness walking. After A Bachelor of Arts in History and English, at Wits University in Johannesburg in 1984, I did a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Education, in English and History. I then taught in London and South Africa for nine years, during which time I qualified with a Bachelor of Education in Applied Linguistics, from Wits University. In 1998, my family and I went to Vancouver, British Columbia, for me to study a Masters Degree in Theology. We returned to SA in 2002. In 2016, I graduated with a PhD in History, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I am currently enrolled for my TTA TEFL certificate, Level 5, to qualify and teach EFL, from April 2025.

Hello! My name is Jhuzen, but you can call me Zen. I’m a dedicated Math tutor with over five years of experience specializing in Algebra and Geometry. I’m passionate about making math both accessible and enjoyable, and I always strive to adapt my teaching style to fit each student’s individual needs. I believe that with the right support, anyone can improve their math skills and gain confidence. I have a strong desire to travel the world and immerse myself in different cultures, learning from each place I visit. In my downtime, I enjoy watching a variety of videos and movies, especially ones that broaden my horizons or simply bring a bit of fun to my day. I hold a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, but my true passion lies in teaching mathematics. In addition to teaching, I’ve led teams as a chess athlete and coach with a title of "Woman National Master" in the field of chess.
