Languages: English Experience with disabilities / special needs: I have experience with learners that’s have barriers to learning for example : Dyslexia, ADHD, ADD, Autism and other barriers to learning. Preferred age group : 5-14 year olds About Me: I am a passionate and qualified primary school teacher. I am from South Africa. I have a Bachelor of Education degree intermediate and senior phase, I did my honours in Inclusive Education and I have 180hour TEFL certificate. I teach in English as this is my first and native language. I am a passionate and experienced teacher. Both in the classroom and online. I have taught children with barriers to learning. I have taught primary subjects such as Maths, English, Natural Sciences, Biology, History and Geography as well as life orientation/life skills. I am very flexible and can help out children from the ages 5-15. I have been an online tutor for almost 3 years. I am familiar with the UK curriculum as well as the preparation for SATs and 11+.

I teach senior high school mathematics at all levels, from foundational to advanced. With years of experience as a government tax specialist and roles as a system analyst, programmer, and statistician in IT, I transitioned to teaching, which has always been my passion. I began tutoring in college to support my expenses and discovered the rewarding challenge of working with a student with dyscalculia. Through tailored strategies and building strong rapport, she succeeded. My diverse background has made me resourceful and innovative, enhancing my effectiveness in both teaching and problem-solving. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from St. Scholastica’s College, Manila, where I completed challenging courses such as Calculus, Statistical Analysis, Number Theory, and Linear Algebra. I also pursued post-graduate studies in Mathematics Education at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, focusing on educational strategies and child development, with research on learning disabilities. Although I couldn’t complete my thesis due to budget constraints, I am skilled in teaching all levels of mathematics, including Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, and Business Mathematics.

After 20 years of secondary school classroom teaching in English and History, I am branching out into online teaching. I taught in London, at Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and have since taught in South Africa, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. I run Parkrun, grow and sell organic vegetables, and enjoy wilderness walking. After A Bachelor of Arts in History and English, at Wits University in Johannesburg in 1984, I did a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Education, in English and History. I then taught in London and South Africa for nine years, during which time I qualified with a Bachelor of Education in Applied Linguistics, from Wits University. In 1998, my family and I went to Vancouver, British Columbia, for me to study a Masters Degree in Theology. We returned to SA in 2002. In 2016, I graduated with a PhD in History, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I am currently enrolled for my TTA TEFL certificate, Level 5, to qualify and teach EFL, from April 2025.
