Caroline N.

Hello! My name is Caroline and I am a native English speaker who grew up in New Zealand. I moved to Germany in 2019 to start my masters degree in performance music at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. I have always really enjoyed teaching music and through learning German as a second language, I realised my passion for languages and language teaching. I have been teaching English for a year and I am now working on an online TESOL course for English teaching. My hobbies include sports such as football, tennis and table tennis. I also enjoy origami and learning languages (I am working on a B2 certificate in German). My approach to teaching is to create a positive and interesting learning environment. It is my goal for students to enjoy their lessons so they are more likely to want to keep learning and to want to practice and improve themselves outside of lesson times. Associating positive energy and experiences to learning will be what keeps you motivated longterm. I am of course happy to discuss with students what they are looking to work on and set goals with them for what they want to achieve through these lessons. I think of myself as a very patient and positive person, so I can adapt to the speed/different paces of a student's learning without pressure or stress. I am also very interested in teaching violin/viola/music lessons if anyone is interested in these, as that is a huge passion of mine and is what I have been working on throughout my degrees. I look forward to hearing from you :) - Bachelor of music degree from The University of Auckland (New Zealand) - First Class Honours degree from The University of Auckland. - Masters degree from the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (current). - B1-TELC German certificate

Elliot B.

I am a recent graduate in Economics and Politics from the University of Manchester. My work history includes hospitality, pizza delivery and baby sitting as well as a summer internship as a campaign aid and assistant to Sir Ed Davey. I’ve decided to remain in Manchester after my graduation to work and save up enough money to go travelling next summer. I found it really rewarding to build meaningful connections with kids I’ve looked after during my time babysitting. Sports are my main passion as I play multiple times. Alongside my final year of studies I ran a departmental football team for my university and currently play three times a week. I also play pick-up basketball quite regularly and have recently started playing padel once a week (would highly recommend, it’s very fun). Outside of sports, I am a self-proclaimed foodie. I enjoy cooking complex and elaborate meals especially when it’s for other people. I’m well travelled having visited a plethora of countries in all the continents bar South America and Antarctica. In my spare time I also enjoy reading, going on walks in the peak district and playing video games with my friends. On top of my interest in politics, I am very interested in history. the history of warfare. Over the past 3 years, when not at university I have lived in South London with my parents, little brother and our labrador Bella. I look forward to meeting all my future students and sharing my enthusiasm for all my chosen subjects. I started my primary school education in Stockwell before moving to Streatham Hill in year 1 where I was placed at Hitherfield. During year 5 and 6 I was fortunate enough to be tutorted myself in 11+ entrance exams for multiple grammar schools across london. Despite being offered multiple scholarships I opted to go to Dunraven Secondary School where I obtained my GCSE’s getting one 9, three 7’s including maths and english, five 6’s and one 5. During my time I also learnt how to play the saxophone achieving a grade 5 and also completed an ECDL course. I then was granted a place at Dunraven Sixth Form to complete my A-levels. I studied Economics, Business and Politics achieving A,A,B respectively. These results helped facilitate my place to study (BA) Economics and Politics at the University of Manchester where I studied for three years. In July 2024 after much hard work, I graduated with a 2nd class honours completing my academic journey thus far. I would describe my specialist areas as being economics and politics however I am well versed in business as well having my own personal interests in the subject having studied it as an A level. I also feel well adept to teach 11+ entrance exams. Having been on the other end of it I understand all the frustrations and feelings students will have towards their revision at a time where it may be difficult to see the bigger picture. I’m sure I can use this understanding to help my students maintain determination and grit.
