Sophie T.

Hi there! I'm Sophie, an 19 year old second year undergraduate student studying Modern Languages at University. I have an enthusiasm for languages and genuinely enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I can guarantee you’ll have productive and enjoyable sessions with me. In my free time I enjoy dancing latin dances such as Bachata and Salsa and like socialising and practicing my language skills. I am fluent in Russian due to my heritage and have visited Moscow annually during the summer holidays. I have previous experience in having tutored 3 GCSE students while juggling with my A levels and helped them achieve their goals. In addition, I participated in online language classes back in 2022 for Berlitz Oxford Language Centre as a role of a teacher assistant, so I am very familiar with the tutoring/teacher role. Currently, I am offering tutoring in Spanish from beginners, GCSE to A levels.

Hi! I'm Teacher Jeremiah "JJ" de Castro and and I am excited to be your math and physics teacher this year. As a dedicated and passionate educator with a strong background in both mathematics and physics as an Electrical Engineer, I am committed to fostering a deep understanding of these subjects in my students. With a focus on problem-solving, critical thinking, and real-world applications, I strive to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that inspires curiosity and academic growth. My approach combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, ensuring students not only grasp complex concepts but also see the relevance of math and physics in everyday life. I am excited about the opportunity to help students develop the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in these foundational fields. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and my coursework included advanced studies in circuit analysis, digital systems design and power systems. An overview of the educational background that I have in B.S. Electrical Engineering are mathematics, physics, and other related Math subjects.

Peace O.

Medicine is a rapidly changing field which requires an acknowledgment of life-long learning. During my studies of GCSE and A levels for chemistry and biology , my competence for scientific thinking has improved and has tied in with my ambitions and motivations to be a Doctor. This has broadened my method of approach to learning and has allowed me to use multiple ways in different situations to solidify my knowledge and understanding. This has proved extremely effective as it has enabled me to secure a place in a Russel group Medical School. One of these ways was realising that one of the best methods to test and improve my learning was to embrace teaching as a form of revision including teaching my peers various parts of the specification. This enhanced my appreciation for teaching and gave me the courage to become a tutor. Each individual is different, so in order to ensure the students I tutor can achieve their best, it is important for me to implement multiple methods of teaching as well as ways of revising. This will provide the students with a more personal way of teaching compared to something they may receive at school which may not be as tailored to their way of thinking and learning. Some methods includes mini-quizzing, simplified diagrams, question and process walkthroughs, and a balance of small visual, verbal , and audible cues which can make a huge difference to learning. Learning needs to be active and intuitive, so a variety of ways to learn is imperative. Maths and Science prevalently were my favourite subjects in school to learn as they had consistent logic which when understood was very rewarding. However despite enjoying the subjects, they can be equally as frustrating and require persistence. Appreciating the challenges and conceptual difficulties especially in Science and maths, helped developed my appreciation for different ways of effectively learning being required which helped me achieve all 8's and 9's in science and maths at GCSE and A's and A* at A level. Ultimately I believe being able to personally implement a range of methods to improve my own results will translate very well in my teachings to help students to also improve.
