Outside of my classes I’m interested in picking up skills, I recently learned to crochet and I love the outside. I enjoy hiking, exploring and travelling and have visited a range of countries including Peru and Cambodia. I also take part in competitive sports therefore I can understand the struggle of managing both academics and extracurriculars hence why I can provide support, advice and understanding in this aspect. The sports I am competitive in include taekwondo, kickboxing and volleyball however other hobbies of mine include learning languages and reading. My name is Ryan, I was born on the north coast of Ireland and grew up in Derry City. At St Columb's College in completed both my GCSEs (AQA and CCEA) and my A Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology. I studied for my bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences at University College Maastricht in the south of the Netherlands engaging with a range of disciplines from biochemistry to the history of enlightenment and romanticism. My main focus was on Environmental Sciences and Management, which I explored more deeply during my semester at the University of California. I am currently working towards a Master's in Natural Environment and Resources Management. In my free time I enjoy reading narrative history, cycling and rowing.

I studied in Singapore for secondary and high school, so I am familiar with the British O level and A level syllabi, which are used in Singapore with minor variations. Currently I am studying social sciences in second year at Sciences Po Paris campus of Le Havre and the program is in English. I have been teachign English language and grammar, Mathematics, History, and Biology to students up to secondary level both online and offline for the past 2 years. I am a passionate and patient teacher dedicated to making learning enjoyable and rewarding to my students. In my spare time, I write and produce for a podcast and a campus newspaper in English, and I'm in the orchestra of Le Havre as a violinist. My first language is Mandarin. Research Experience: I had research attanchment at Nanyang Technological University before coming to France for my University, under the Biochemistry department. I also interned at the Singapore Environmental Agency under the Wolbachia project for dengue control. This experience gave me a 3-month laboratory working experience with leading biologists and bio-engineers in the field of infectious disease control, which made me interested in the public health sector and related social policies.
