Language: English - Fluent Preferred Age Group: GCSE, A-Level Hello, my name is Tom and I LOVE all things Maths and Physics! I'm beginning my fourth year of studying these subjects at university, so I know the struggles of the student first hand. Aside from my degree, I am also an avid Irish dancer and came 5th at the most recent World Championships. That's me in a nutshell! At GCSE I achieved an A*, 8 A's and 2 B's, with the A* in Maths and an AA in Double Award Science. At A-Level I took Maths, Physics and Software Systems Development and got 2 A*'s and an A respectively. I am currently in my fourth year of studying for a Masters degree in Applied Mathematics & Physics at Queen's University Belfast, which I am seriously enjoying.

One of my favourite things to do is helping people learn. And not just forcefully learning and memorising, but learning in a way they understand. Learning in a way easiest and least challenging for them as an individual. I love teaching Maths because I think it’s amazing how there are so many different ways to get to the correct answer. So even if you might not understand how one way works, that’s absolutely okay because that’s not the only way to the answer. Whichever way works for you in understanding how to get to the answer, is the way we’ll figure out and work with together. And once we do it together, you’ll have the confidence and knowledge to do it independently. That being said, I also love Biology and Chemistry because science is also great. And believe it or not, but the answers are usually easier to find than you’d think. Whether you're wanting to excel and get the top grade, or wanting to pass a subject you're not really in love with, I think everyone has the potential to achieve what they want and continue to advance forward in life. Including you. Whether you believe it or not, you have the potential and ability to succeed. Even if you might need a little help or nudge in seeing that ability, that’s absolutely fine – and I would love to be that person to help give you that encouragement in seeing your potential. My name is Teo and I am currently undertaking my Professional Diploma in Secondary Teaching of English at the University of Edinburgh. I have been a tutor with GoStudent for over a year now, helping students from a range of age groups and ability levels achieve their potential and acquire the results they desire. My experience stretches from S1 to S6 students, with lessons carefully tailored to each and every one of them. In addition to my experience of teaching English to students from the Scottish Exam Board, I have also gained experience with England's AQA exam board, supporting several students in GCSE and A-Level English. Furthermore, my education in Film Studies from the University of St Andrews has allowed me to support students in the subject of Media as well. I strive to keep each lesson focused on the student's ability while introducing relatable and up-to-date topics to retain the student's interest as they stay engaged for the whole lesson. Before embarking on my teacher journey, I dedicated the year 2021-2022 to my Master's degree in Playwriting and Dramaturgy at the University of Glasgow. That year resulted in my obtainment of a Distinction (First Class) achievement in that course. Over that year, I further developed my writing skills as well as my critical and academic engagement with the Drama genre. I believe this experience has proved especially valuable during my work with teaching and tutoring. Prior to my Master's qualification, I achieved a Second Class First Division result in my Undergraduate degree in English and Film Studies from the University of St Andrews. During this time, the majority of my literature skills were developed as well as my ability to critically engage with the art of moving pictures. Throughout my lengthy academic experience, I have engaged with a wide range of textual and visual styles and genres which has allowed me to provide knowledge and insight to each one of my tutoring sessions over the past year and a half. In addition, my teacher education will prove even more useful in my tutoring work as my skills will continue to develop, and my ability to support my students will continue to grow. I do hope I have been successful in representing my academic background and would be incredibly happy and excited to pass my literacy skills onto my students and help them achieve the academic results they are looking for.

In my free time I love to watch as well as play rugby and football. My passion for sport has grown due to my participation with the organisation Sports Leaders, in which I've gained valuable experience working with GCSE students. Maths is a strongpoint of mine and heavily focussed on in my degree; I achieved a grade 9 in my Maths GCSE in 2019, so I understand recent changes to the curriculum.
