About me: Hi! I’m Irene. I have been involved in teaching for 2 years, having previously worked with students age 4-16 as a teaching assistant in the UK and in Spain. My experience has allowed me to develop my confidence in teaching students from KS1 all the way up to A-level. In addition, in my second and final year at University I tutored 1st year Biology students who were struggling with the jump from A-level to undergrad, helping them develop their statistical, critical analysis and exam writing skills. While at school, I was always the kid in class who asked SO many questions because I often found science and maths lessons to be a huge information overload! Thanks to the patience of my teachers and a dedicated tutor I excelled in my science and maths GCSEs and A-Levels which ultimately gave me the confidence to go on and study Biology at the University of Leeds. I strive to give my students the same patience and dedication I received in school to them!

I find a lot of joy in volunteering, advocating for human rights, and writing, therefore transferred to Political Science after my first year!

I love meeting new students, getting to know them and supporting them on their journey to learning English. I particularly enjoy finding out students interests and bringing together some lesson material just for them. We can work on vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, listening, writing, reading or fluency. I am happy to suggest some areas or perhaps there are things that you would like to work on. I like to create a positive learning environment where reoccurring mistakes feed into future learning rather than requiring constant correction. At Central Saint Martins in London I completed my master's degree in Narrative Environments. It was such an fascinating area to study with lots of live design projects in and around London. Since then, I have worked at the Science Museum in London and worked in project coordination and management on Lottery funded projects related to education and heritage. I enjoy finding out about museum projects and related ethical debates.

Starting from a state school, I made my way up to a grammar school for sixth form and I am currently studying Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College London. My hobbies include photography, dance, fitness, art and modelling.
