Rachelle D.

Hi, I’m Chelle, an enthusiastic educator on a mission to transform the way students connect with the English language. I believe that every word holds the power to inspire, communicate, and create. My passion lies in helping students unlock this potential by improving their communication skills and developing a lifelong appreciation for literature and language. From untangling the complexities of grammar to guiding students in crafting powerful narratives, I strive to make every lesson engaging, relevant, and impactful. My teaching philosophy is rooted in innovation, creativity, and a deep commitment to meeting students where they are in their learning journey. At the core of my work is a desire to empower students—giving them the tools and confidence to express themselves authentically and tackle life’s challenges with clarity and courage. For me, teaching is not just about education; it’s about inspiring growth, fostering connection, and igniting a passion for learning that lasts a lifetime. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, which has equipped me with a solid understanding of human behavior, cognitive processes, and emotional well-being. My academic background has been the foundation for my professional journey in both the fields of guidance counseling and education. As a Guidance Counselor, I had the privilege of supporting students' personal, academic, and social development. I facilitated individual and group counseling sessions, working closely with students to address their challenges and develop strategies for resilience and growth. My role also involved collaborating with parents and teachers to create tailored interventions that promoted the holistic development of each student. I am particularly passionate about fostering mental health awareness and empowering young individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. Currently, I apply my skills as an Online ESL Teacher, helping non-native speakers improve their English proficiency. In this role, I develop engaging lesson plans tailored to students' learning needs and goals. I focus on creating a supportive and interactive environment that encourages confidence in speaking, writing, and comprehension. This experience has further enhanced my ability to communicate effectively across cultures, adapt to diverse learning styles, and motivate students to succeed. My dual experience as a counselor and educator has strengthened my commitment to empowering individuals, whether by addressing their emotional and psychological needs or by equipping them with the tools for effective communication. I am dedicated to fostering personal growth and creating positive, meaningful connections in every role I undertake.

In my free time I enjoy travelling, socialising and creating content for social media. During the difficult period of covid, I have a found a keen interest in voluntary work, and am proud to be recognised as a lead volunteer for the charity Penny Appeal. Over the past years I have mainly tutored 11+ students but also GCSE and A-Level Psychology, English and History. I have studied English Literature, Psychology and History at A-Level, these which have expanded my writing and creative abilities. Furthermore, during my GCSE I was awarded for having one of the top results in the year group. Some of the further subjects I took were: History, Business studies, Religious Studies, Hospitality and French. I always try my best to keep a session as engaging as possible. I use varying teaching techniques based on the student’s preference and what works well. I am always prepared to give my students a challenge and provide an optimal learning space. I believe in activating the brain as much as possible in order to retain information. My feedback from students and parents suggest that they enjoy my lessons and this translates into a better educational experience. I hope that you choose me as your tutor and I look forward to success in my students.
