Hello! Thank you for reading my profile, I'm Abbie, a postgrad student in Japanese and Chinese translation. I am passionate about teaching and motivating my students to branch out from topics typical at school. My key aims in all lessons are to make steps towards building students' confidence in the desired subject and building upon academic skills to feel prepared for exams or tests. I strive to ensure my students enjoy each lesson, feel safe in my lesson space and feel comfortable asking and discussing anything about the subject. I plan my lessons to fit each student's style of learning and interests for example studying the history of manga in Japanese lessons or diving into the world of gothic literature in English lessons - there is something for everyone! I can help with exam preparation and practice and provide extra support/materials for personal study. Subjects I teach (up to GCSE): English Language and Literature, English as a Second Language, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Welsh I have been tutoring for over 3 years now, both abroad and in the UK. I have experience working with students of all ages and with different abilities (including language abilities). I have N3 proficiency in Japanese and high proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (traditional and simplified).

I have been teaching on the GoStudent platform for nearly 2 years now. I spent a gap year working as a teaching assistant in my local primary school where I mainly worked with year 6. However, I also had experience with years 3,4 and 5. My main hobby is gaming and esports such as Overwatch where I used to play professionally and reached top 100 ranked in Europe. I now play on the university team and also coach players to help them improve!

Fluent French Preferred student age group: Year 10 and 11 GCSE and A LEVEL I am a 27-year-old Modern Languages teacher who arrived in England from Spain 5 years ago, bringing my Spanish culture to classrooms in the UK, teaching Spanish to pupils between 4 and 18 years old. During my time in England, I have been able to learn from great experts in teaching, in an environment where I have been able to experiment freely with different teaching methods, which has been a great catalyst for my effective professional development in this field.
