I have taught biology for around 6 years, and I am looking forward to making biology engaging and fun for you. My teaching styles include explaining topics as well as demonstrating concepts through visuals (images). I am an experienced educator with over fifteen years in teaching and mentoring, now specialising in English, Psychology, and Sociology up to A-level. My academic background includes a BA in Sociology, a diploma in Counselling, ACCHP accreditation, and I am currently completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth. This academic journey, combined with my teaching experience, allows me to provide learners with both subject expertise and practical strategies to achieve success. In English, I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical analysis, helping learners gain the confidence to express themselves clearly and effectively. My Sociology and Psychology teaching draws on my academic knowledge and real-world insights, making lessons engaging and relevant by connecting theory to contemporary issues and everyday life. I believe that every learner has unique strengths, and I adapt my teaching style to meet individual needs. My counselling background helps me create a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable to ask questions, take risks, and develop resilience. Organised, approachable, and enthusiastic, I encourage students not only to meet their academic goals but also to grow in confidence and independent thinking. Above all, I am committed to inspiring curiosity, developing critical skills, and empowering learners to reach their full potential in their chosen subjects. My academic background reflects both a strong commitment to education and a passion for understanding people, society, and the human mind. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education from Griffith University, Australia, where I developed a foundation in social theory, educational practice, and the ways in which learning is shaped by cultural and societal factors. This degree gave me valuable insights into both the structures of society and the transformative power of education. Building on this, I undertook a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of human behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing. This qualification provided practical tools for supporting individuals and groups, strengthening my ability to create learning environments that are empathetic, inclusive, and responsive to different needs. Currently, I am completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, with only the final stage remaining. This advanced study has deepened my knowledge of psychological theory, research, and application. It has also enhanced my analytical and critical thinking skills, and further developed my ability to connect theory with practice. Studying at postgraduate level has reinforced my commitment to lifelong learning and prepared me to bring a high level of academic and practical expertise into my teaching. Taken together, these qualifications demonstrate not only my academic achievement but also my dedication to education, psychology, and counselling—fields that all intersect in my work as an educator and tutor.

Hello! Thank you for reading my profile, I'm Abbie, a postgrad student in Japanese and Chinese translation. I am passionate about teaching and motivating my students to branch out from topics typical at school. My key aims in all lessons are to make steps towards building students' confidence in the desired subject and building upon academic skills to feel prepared for exams or tests. I strive to ensure my students enjoy each lesson, feel safe in my lesson space and feel comfortable asking and discussing anything about the subject. I plan my lessons to fit each student's style of learning and interests for example studying the history of manga in Japanese lessons or diving into the world of gothic literature in English lessons - there is something for everyone! I can help with exam preparation and practice and provide extra support/materials for personal study. Subjects I teach (up to GCSE): English Language and Literature, English as a Second Language, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Welsh I have been tutoring for over 3 years now, both abroad and in the UK. I have experience working with students of all ages and with different abilities (including language abilities). I have N3 proficiency in Japanese and high proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (traditional and simplified).

--- About Me! --- I'm Danny, a 4th year physicist at the University of Edinburgh, currently undergoing a research year abroad working on a thesis at GSI/FAIR, a facility for high energy physics. My work involves a lot of programming, knowledge of physics, and application of engineering and design principles. I love inspiring others and talking about my subject, so any student who comes my way will hopefully leave feeling confident, ready for common exam questions, and most importantly, wanting to learn more beyond their curriculum. I play the violin to a diploma standard, love trying out new cooking recipes (sometimes with disastrous consequences), and really enjoy mountain sports, like climbing and hiking. --- My Education --- As mentioned above, I am a physicist at the University of Edinburgh on a year in industry at GSI. I am working on the upcoming DIRC particle detectors for the PANDA project and the EIC at Brookhaven (google these things, in my opinion they are very cool). This research of course involves knowing a bunch about programming, mathematics and physics! I achieved 4 A* grades at A-Level, in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Music, with the WJEC exam board. For these grades, I abused my poor printer, drilling past paper questions endlessly, so I am very familiar with this specific curriculum. However, mathematics and physics are very similar across all exam boards. There are common questions in every exam, and your child will become familiar and confident with these questions with me, ideally able to reproduce 'stock answers' with a high level of understanding and speed. This saves time in exams and guarantees easy marks; this is a major step in reducing exam anxiety, and one of the main strategies I used to achieve my marks. I taught a STEM program at a US summer camp. It was much more of a 'for fun' thing, so we focused on making classes lightweight and enjoyable, rather than drilling worksheets and past paper questions. As such, I won't exclusively bore tutees to death with math problems! I pride myself on being able to break down concepts into simple to understand analogies. I am also a huge advocate for using past questions as revision material. However, I recognise the importance for students to balance time spent on questions with going over textbook concepts.

Hi! My name is sharmin, I am currently studying Medicine in Manchester and have worked with students of a wide range of ages and requirements. I personally thrive off learning and am a dedicated tutor who understands how important it is to provide students with unique and tailored support to help them not only achieve their study goals but also actively enjoy the learning process. Having faced my own challenging exams, I know what is needed to build up strong study habits and maintain motivation especially when encountering complex study concepts. Whether you are looking for that added boost on your grades, or wanting to deepen your understanding, or just need a hand getting 'unstuck' , I'm here to help you in any way ! I am currently about to enter my third year of degree in Medicine at the University of Manchester where I have built up a strong understanding of the sciences particularly Chemistry and Biology as well as application skills. I completed my GCSEs and A levels in Greater Manchester as well with the latter being during the COVID pandemic. In my degree I have spent a lot of time as a peer tutor to people in my class and students in the years of the degree below me in teaching societies. Alongside this I have also tutored students in English Language and Literature GCSE previously as I have always enjoyed the subject and volunteered as a tutor for students in Year 5-6 looking for additional support in their SATs exams.
