🎓 Graduate of National University of Ireland, Galway 🎓 ✏University Level: BA English Literature & Creative Writing ✏ Leaving Certificate Level: English (H1) ✏ Exam Board Prep & Experience with: Leaving Certificate (Irish schooling system) ✏Experience with Disabilities/Special Needs: ADHD ✏Preferred Student Age Group: 5th & 6th Year Students 🤓 About Me 🤓 But! Studies aren't everything. I also love music (from hip-hop to K-pop, you name it, I'll lyrically analyse it...👀 ), Zumba classes, Netflix and most of all, I love my wolfdog named Blue. I'm a huge mental health advocate too, so helping my students with their confidence in expression is my number one priority at all times. Poetry is my specialty, as I dedicated one full year to it in university, but as an Honours graduate of English, Philosophy & Creative Writing in NUI Galway, it's fair to say I'm pretty passionate about English Literature! After achieving a H1 in my own Leaving Certificate in 2015, I also privately tutored English at Leaving Certificate level (specialising in Essay Writing and Poetry) as well as completed my Teaching English as a Second Language certificate. With English, there is certainly no such thing as 'one-size- fits-all'. I hope to unlock students' individual creativity and confidence with carefully tailored lessons to suit you. I believe in using a facilitating approach where I will provide the tools and aid to allow you to work smarter, not harder, and show all the joys that studying the great English classics and modern poets has to offer-- as well as guide you through the thrilling experience of developing and exploring your own writing abilities! Let's take the LC by storm, go team! 💪✨

Silena K.

Hello, my name is Silena and let me tell you a bit about myself. I am an extremely ambitious, passionate and an outgoing individual always determined to get involved in new challenges and accept new opportunities. I’m currently in my final year at the University of Liverpool, studying Accounting and Finance, in hopes of achieving a first class degree. I love to get involved in different clubs like for examples I did synchronised swimming for 3 years, placing 5th at nationals, as well as earning gold and silver medals at different competitions. Currently, I am a member of my university cheerleading team, which has been an amazing, new experience allowing me to try something completely different and out of my comfort zone, as it is rather different from synchro as well as dance which I did for 10 years. I also have been trying to start up knitting during lockdown but it’s proven to be harder than I expected; so it’s still a work in progress. I’m also a huge believer in helping the community. I've been volunteering at my local nursing home and hospital for a total of 2 years during sixth form, which was an extremely rewarding experience. Why do I want to be a tutor? In my Chemistry Subject Champion role at sixth form, entailing teaching students the subject, I realised my passion for teaching and guiding others. As a student who experienced similar struggles during my exams and underwent tutoring, l’m able to significantly relate to young students, with regards to the pressures and stresses they experience. Moreover, as a synchronised swimmer for my local club, Hythe Aqua, I had responsibilities to teach the younger swimmers in preparation for national competitions and figure assessments. Despite, the difficulties when teaching younger pupils, due to lack of concentration and consistent interruptions, I developed a sense of patience when managing situations under pressure alongside commanding attention, in turn adapting my communication styles to the specific age groups. As someone who is able to relate to the experiences of balancing 12 subjects and has completing my GCSEs successful signified by achieving mostly A*s and As, I have the expertise to provide the necessary assistance and guidance. It is crucial for students to establish a close and trusting relationship with their tutors in order to feel entirely comfortable and fully engage with the session. I’d describe myself as a friendly, caring individual who is able to provide the support for every student to reach their full potential and achieve success in their studies. Attended Grammar School- passed the 11+ GCSEs All A*s and As English Literature and Language Mathematics Textiles, Biology, French, History, Religious Education, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry and ICT A-Levels Economics Biology Chemistry EPQ University of Liverpool - Accounting and Finance (4th Year)
