I am a current medical student at the University of York, with a passion for Biology and Chemistry, after being on track to achieve an E in Chemistry but ending up with an A I know first hand the value of the strong, co-operative and patient teaching that can benefit students grade outcomes. Due to being a current medical student I can also tailor my advice and teaching strategies to those who are seeking a carreer in healthcare. I have a particular interest in Neuroscience which I was able to explore in significant depth during my EPQ on the effects of hallucinogenic drugs and hallucinations on the brain and its neuroanatomy. I have experience volunteering within a school as well as private tuition and volunteering at an assisted living home for adults with complex learning difficulties. I have developed the skills nececssary to adapt my communication to suit the needs of the individual in order to develop the rapport that is vital for a strong student-teacher relationship.

Levels and Subjects I teach: I’m an English and History teacher with GoStudent. I can teach these at GCSE and A Level. As a professional writer I can offer academic and creative writing classes to adults and higher level students. I am a teacher of environmental science. I have an MSc in Conservation Ecology and extensive field experience in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Having studied and worked as a professional actor, I can also offer Drama/Acting classes to A Level. Languages: Apart from English, I'm also a fluent Spanish speaker. Preferred student age groups: I prefer to work with students from 10 years and older (to adults), however I have worked with students from 6 years up. About me: I have been a professional travel, environment, and creative writer for the last 20 years, and a teacher for the last 9. I have a background in acting, drama and conservation ecology and when it comes to teaching I draw on these skills to make my classes as fun, dynamic, and interesting as possible. I often use roleplay, music, media, and games to enhance students learning and understanding. Learning is so much easier when it’s fun and thought-provoking. I teach students from young children to the executives of large companies. Outside of my roles as teacher and writer I have also worked as an actor, journalist, conservationist and professional mountain and nature tour guide and tour designer. I love wildplaces. When not working, I love hiking, film, theatre, acting, travel, snorkelling, diving, photography, and martial arts. I also run workshops in creative writing. I have an MSc in Conservation Ecology from Oxford Brookes University. I decided to do this degree after living and working in Latin America, Africa and South East Asia for many years. Living and working as a guide, writer, and conservationist in these places inspired my love of the natural world. My degree is in acting and performance art. I was lucky enough to attend East 15 Acting School (which is now part of the University of East London) to study. I worked as an actor for many years, and I often include roleplay and drama in my lessons. For my A levels I studied English (A), Art (A) and Geography (B).

My motive is to build confidence in my students and make them see the potential in themselves.
