Hi, I’m Elaine Bereña, and I specialize in teaching Mathematics. My teaching journey began as part of my return of service for the scholarship I received during my college years. During that time, I taught various Math subjects, including General Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, Basic Calculus, and Statistics and Probability. In addition to my classroom experience, I also provided tutoring services for college students in higher-level mathematics courses, such as Calculus. Currently, I work as a freelance chat-based tutor, continuing to support students with their learning needs in Mathematics. The satisfaction I feel when a student grasps a challenging concept is incredibly rewarding. I take great pride in contributing to each student’s academic growth, and I view teaching as a reciprocal experience—helping students develop while constantly learning and evolving myself. I deliver English tuition using the latest digital technology for collaborative learning in fun and interactive sessions. For KS2-KS3 students, I focus on SPaG, reading comprehension of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, and improving sentence and paragraph structure. I use positive reinforcement continuously during my sessions to motivate my students. I have extensive experience of AQA, WJEC, Edexcel and Eduqas curriculums for GCSE and Advanced level studies. I teach Ofqual’s Assessment Objectives: how to respond to texts, analyse their language, form and structure, consider the relationship between texts and contexts, and to use a wide range of vocabulary and sentence structures. Also, I help my students to understand set texts: prose, plays and poetry, and to improve their transactional and creative writing skills. I provide bespoke teaching sessions to suit students’ individual needs. I support my students through their studies to improve their confidence to answer essay and exam questions. I help students with comprehension by teaching them textual analysis to improve their interpretative skills and offer a lot of past paper practice. As well as sharing my extensive academic knowledge, I am patient with my students', who respond well to my approach and excel under my tutelage.
