Hi, I'm Ariel! As a licensed Mechanical Engineer with experience in both academe and industry, I bring a problem-solving mindset to my work. I’m passionate about applying math to understand everyday life and helping students use it to enhance their careers and daily activities. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing fighting games like Street Fighter and Tekken, staying active at the gym, and mastering online shopping for the best deals. I bring energy and enthusiasm to everything I do! I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2016 and worked as a Design and Estimate Mechanical Engineer for a Japanese construction company, focusing on design calculations for factory layouts and supervising projects. Later, I transitioned to academia as a lecturer, specializing in machine design, and became the sole instructor for the subject.

I love to travel, read, eat and try new activities! I like learning about different cultures and the history behind the cultures. I took up running during the pandemic and my aim is to one day run a half marathon and once that's achieved, run a full marathon. I love teaching and am very passionate about it. I did GCSEs in Maths, English, Science, RS, Drama, ICT, Business Studies, and got additional qualifications such as Critical Thinking AS Level when I was in secondary school. My A Levels were in English Literature and Language, Accounting and Economics. My Batchelors degree was in Accounting and Finance and I proceeded to get a PGCE after a year of doing a Maths Enhancement Course to qualify to teach Secondary Maths.

I am able to tutor History at GCSE, and A-Level I am also an experienced A-level Government and Politics on the Edexcel exam board. I have experience with tutoring AQA for History A-level and both AQA and Edexcel at GCSE level for History. I also have experience working with students surrounding academic and exam stress and anxiety, I have also done extensive public speaking coaching for both competitions and increasing confidence. In my spare time, I'm a massive theatre fan and I love going to see musicals and theatre shows with my friends I also love taking time to explore my university city and getting to know a different part of the country. I am a fully qualified History Teacher after completing my Secondary History Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Sheffield Hallam University last year. I have gained a 2:1 BA honours degree in Politics and International Relations from Newcastle University. I have also done extensive coaching for public speaking and debate competitions, alongside this I have training in how to deal with exam and academic anxiety, I am also a Trauma Informed practitioner and trained in the specific needs of students with SEND needs.

My name is Yan Lan and I am 19 years old. I am a student at the London School of Economics and Political Science, studying Financial Mathematics and Statistics. I have finished my first year and I am currently on a gap year. I have loved studying Mathematics since primary school and this interest in maths has made me want to study it further at university. I was born and raised in the UK but my ethnicity is Chinese. I have tutored many students before, since I was in Year 11 and love teaching and inspiring young students to also love Maths. I specialise particularly in GCSE maths (I did AQA exam board) and primary school students. I am currently doing a Bachelor of Science in Financial Mathematics and Statistics at LSE. During my time in 6th form, I have done A-levels in Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Psychology and History. I have received A*A*A*A respectively in those subjects. I have received 11 GCSEs with 9A*s and 2A, including 8 in Mathematics and 7 in English.
