ABOUT ME Hi, I’m Hermie. As an educator who loves to meet students from diverse backgrounds, I have had the opportunity to teach people from different countries and embrace their cultures. I'm an explorer who loves to travel and connect with nature. I put my utmost effort in making learning fun and engaging to all. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, which has given me a strong foundation in problem-solving, creativity, and analytical thinking. However, my passion for teaching led me to pursue a TESOL certification from the American TESOL Institute. This certification has equipped me with the specialized skills and methodologies needed to effectively conduct lessons. By combining my academic background and my TESOL training, I am able to approach teaching with a unique perspective, drawing on my diverse skill set to create engaging, structured lessons.

Hello, My name is Sridevi! Being a Science graduate with Maths has always made me fascinated with maths. I have a thorough understanding of the curriculum as I have worked in Primary school as a teaching assistant which gives me experience working with SEN children and gifted and talented children which enables me the knack for pitching the lessons and hooking them to the lessons. My interventions and commitment to inspiring children in school who had maths anxiety made them change their perspective toward mathematics and boosted their confidence and scores in SATs. I also tutored Vedic Maths and Hindi for charity and during the pandemic, I quickly adapted to virtual learning and had to prepare my slides accordingly. I have 8 years of experience working in primary school and tutoring primary and secondary maths and my students especially enjoyed Vedic Maths: the techniques of solving mathematically mentally and quicker ways of solving them. Recently I am doing my PGCE secondary Maths being a trainee teacher has doubled my knowledge and experience to share with young minds to excel in their studies in school. Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research, and other academic tasks. Working with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom. I usually start my lessons with meditation to calm pupils’ agitated minds to relax and get focused. My lessons have knowledge retrieval from previous lessons so the students could recap their previous lessons and problem-solving questions which shows the importance of maths in real life also at the end of the class, we have a quiz and multiple-choice questions which enables the child to get motivated and focused and helps me to pitch the lessons for the next lesson or set a task as homework. My personal skills such as patience, empathy, and active listening will enable my students to persevere in their studies. I am patient, friendly and love to support students to help them get the best out of their education and boost their confidence. Below is a list of the subjects and age groups that I tutor. I have experience of exam boards AQA, OCR, WJEC, Eduqas and Edexcel. ENGLISH LANGUAGE I enjoy tutoring English to students in Primary and Secondary school age groups and have plenty of experience of teaching GCSE and A-Level English Language. I have successfully helped many pupils with their SATS tests, 11+, entrance exams, GCSE and A-Level exams. ENGLISH LITERATURE I tutor English Literature up to Higher Level and have plenty of experience of tutoring GCSE English Literature with GoStudent. I've also worked with iGCSE and IB level students. I’d be especially happy to help with 19th century literature at Higher Level, as I studied a Year 3 19th century literature module for my BA (Hons). HISTORY I've tutored pupils studying history at Primary, Secondary and GCSE level. I’m happy to help with social history and Victorian history topics up to A-level, as my specialism is in 19th century socio-economic history. CLASSICAL CIVILISATIONS I am happy to tutor students taking the OCR GCSE and A-Level in Classical Civilisations ART HISTORY I would love to help students of Art History of all age ranges up to Higher Level. I’m a firm believer in the outlook of the Art History in Schools charity that advises teaching Art History from the age of five. Lessons in Art History can help students of other subjects like history, art, architecture, and photography. For those considering going on to learn Art History at University, it is useful to have taster lessons. HUMANITIES Part of my BA (Hons) degree involved studying Humanities modules and I would be happy to tutor students of Humanities up to Higher level. HERITAGE, MUSEUM STUDIES, TOURISM AND TRAVEL Due to my experience with my MA in Heritage Management and working for the National Trust, I am happy to assist anyone studying heritage, tourism and travel courses to Higher Level. My hobbies include creative writing and I enjoy helping other writers, including young adults, by critiquing their creative writing. I have been nominated for a Writing.com Quill Award for being a top reviewer. I write non-fiction about literature and history, for example, my latest book entitled 'Jane Austen’s Easter' and an article in the Brontë Studies journal. I enjoy watercolour painting, baking, sewing and crafting, watching historical and fantasy films, visiting historic sites and gardens, and walking with my dog. I have a lifelong love of learning about literature, history and the arts. I have eight GCSEs: English- A*, English Literature- A*, Psychology- A*,Geography- A*, British Social and Economic History- A, Biology- A, French- A, Mathematics- B. For my A-Levels in Classical Civilisations, English Literature and Art History I gained A* grades. I achieved a First for my BA Hons in Humanities with a specialism in Art History with the Open University, which included taking a 3rd Year module in English Literature. I gained a Distinction for my MA in Heritage Management studied with the University of Birmingham, and was nominated to be the Class Representative for the course. I have been a tutor with GoStudent since 2022. I lecture on literary heritage topics at the University of Chester. I have also given lectures on my historical research at the University of Alberta and the University of Shrewsbury. Working for the National Trust, I interest young people of different ages with history and art history, and mentor work experience students and Duke of Edinburgh students. I volunteer in a local Primary School.
