I have always enjoyed maths and while A-Level economics was a lot of fun and extremely interesting especially during the pandemic, it is taking some time to enjoy studying the discipline at a university level. When I’m not stuck studying or doing some sort of society work I love to go for a run(on the treadmill though), re read any one of Jane Austen’s book or go for long walks with a friend.

Hello! Thank you for reading my profile, I'm Abbie, a postgrad student in Japanese and Chinese translation. I am passionate about teaching and motivating my students to branch out from topics typical at school. My key aims in all lessons are to make steps towards building students' confidence in the desired subject and building upon academic skills to feel prepared for exams or tests. I strive to ensure my students enjoy each lesson, feel safe in my lesson space and feel comfortable asking and discussing anything about the subject. I plan my lessons to fit each student's style of learning and interests for example studying the history of manga in Japanese lessons or diving into the world of gothic literature in English lessons - there is something for everyone! I can help with exam preparation and practice and provide extra support/materials for personal study. Subjects I teach (up to GCSE): English Language and Literature, English as a Second Language, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Welsh I have been tutoring for over 3 years now, both abroad and in the UK. I have experience working with students of all ages and with different abilities (including language abilities). I have N3 proficiency in Japanese and high proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (traditional and simplified).
