My name is Sheryl, a TEFL-certified educator with a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Education. I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in English Language Education (MAELE). I specialize in teaching English across all levels—Basic, Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. My expertise includes Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Grammar, Business English, Conversational English, English for Academic Purposes, and Reading Comprehension. I also offer homework-based lessons to provide additional support and reinforce learning outside the classroom. With six years of experience in teaching English as a second language, I have worked with students of all ages, from primary school to tertiary levels. I firmly believe that with the right motivation and guidance, learners can achieve remarkable progress and success. Nothing fulfills me more as a teacher than seeing my students grow in their language skills, build confidence, and apply their knowledge effectively in real-life situations. But it's during my time at Manchester that, thanks to my amazing lecturers, I got passionate about teaching and I decided to become a tutor. Apart from languages and literature, I love screenwriting, reading, playing volleyball and tennis. I have an MA and PhD in Classics and Ancient History from The University of Manchester, and a background in Italian, English and Russian. In 2015, I completed my BA in English and Russian in Italy. In 2017, I gained an MA in Classics and Ancient History (with distinction) from the University of Manchester and went on to apply for a PhD in Classics and Ancient History. During my MA and the first two years of my PhD, I was lucky enough to attend John Taylor’s classes in Latin and Classical Greek. Over the past five years, I have built my teaching experience both in the classroom and as a private tutor: I have successfully tutored students in Latin and Greek (both in Italy and in the UK) preparing for CE, GCSE, and A-Level examinations; I have taught Latin literature and Roman history to undergraduate students at Manchester University. I have also taught Latin and Classical Greek at the London Summer School in Classics (UCL), and Homeric Greek at the Summer School in Homer (UCL). In 2021, I was awarded an Associate Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. In 2022, I completed my PhD in Classics and Ancient History.
