About me

My name is Shemon Cadogan and I am 22 years old. I am very passionate about Biology and Chemistry, having studied the sciences at GCSE and A'Level. Currently, I am studying an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Kent, with the aspiration of becoming a toxicologist. I am responsible, organized and I will make learning fun. Other things I have accomplished are: volunteering at my nation's hospital in the lab. That gave me hands-on experience for my course and my aspired job career. On the other hand, I did group tutor sessions with my fellow students at GCSE and A' Levels and that was very successful.

Teaching is a passion that allows me to combine my love for learning with my desire to help others succeed. There's something deeply rewarding about watching a student grasp a new concept or gain confidence in their abilities. For me, teaching isn't just about delivering information; it’s about creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel inspired to explore, ask questions, and challenge themselves. One of the most fulfilling aspects of teaching is the opportunity to make a lasting impact on someone's life. Whether it's helping a student overcome a struggle, guiding them through their learning journey, or simply encouraging them to believe in their potential, those moments are what drive my passion. I believe that every student is unique, and it’s important to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs, whether through creative approaches, hands-on activities, or one-on-one support. Building meaningful relationships with students, understanding their strengths and challenges, and providing personalized guidance is at the heart of what I do. Ultimately, teaching is about fostering growth, inspiring curiosity, and empowering students to reach their full potential, and that’s what makes it such a fulfilling and lifelong passion for me. I completed my General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) in the United Kingdom, where I laid the foundation for my academic journey. Subsequently, I pursued my A-levels, advancing my knowledge in specific subjects and preparing for higher education. Currently, I am enrolled in university, where I am actively engaged in furthering my education. This stage of my academic journey has provided me with opportunities to delve deeper into my chosen field of study, contributing to my overall growth and development. I am dedicated to achieving academic excellence and acquiring valuable skills that will shape my future endeavors.

I assist students preparing for SAT and 11+ exams, as well as IELTS, UKVI IELTS, TOEIC, and TOEFL. Experienced in supporting SEN students effectively. I have completed over 3000 sessions, guiding students to consistent improvement and increased confidence. Proficient in programming languages like C, C++, Java, Python, C#, and script languages such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Additionally, I work as an IELTS trainer for a school in South Carolina. Previously, I taught English to students of all ages at a language school in Japan. With this experience, I am confident in my ability to guide my students towards enhancing their academic achievements. Furthermore, I am a very patient and dedicated teacher, focusing on creating a positive environment to foster the emotional, intellectual, and social growth of the students. I, having acquired the CertTESOL certificate, possess a profound understanding of delivering the target language through context. Besides that, with a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering, I studied math and computer science until my 7th semester, thus gathering extensive knowledge in these areas. Having recently completed a postgraduate diploma course in teacher training in the Montessori method at INTESOL Worldwide, UK, and obtaining a certificate in teaching UK-based synthetic phonics, I specialize in creating engaging and exciting environments for teaching phonics and math. Through real-world applications, children can enjoy learning in a fun and interactive manner. Teaching Methodology: I favour the ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) method. Firstly, I engage and captivate the class. Next, they study the target language, followed by controlled practice activities. Finally, they engage in free practice activities related to the target language.
