Hi there! My name is Oliver (or Ollie). I am a 22 year old student currently completing my Mathematics BSc at the University of Nottingham. I have experience in tutoring online and like to believe I am an empathetic tutor who understands what it's like to be in a position where I'm not performing as well as I should due to not enjoying what I am learning. As a result I think I will be able to relate to many students who require tuition. Over the years I have developed a way of thinking about and approaching different concepts in order to develop a true understanding. I hope I will be able to pass this on to anyone I assist in their studies so that they achieve what they are capable of. I am an experienced educator with a doctorate in Mathematics from Imperial College London, currently working as an Associate Lecturer at a higher education institute in the UK. I have always loved mathematics since I was a child; I see solving mathematical problems almost like playing a game, and above all it gives me great satisfaction! Mathematics is a universal language allowing questions to be answered in a non-subjective way, and I believe that this is one of the greatest strengths and beauties of the subject!

I have always had a massive passion for maths since I was young and it has always came to me naturally, and I would love to help other students learn maths, whether they are already proficient with the subject and want help revising, or are struggling. Some of my hobbies include gaming (another passion of mine), doing the daily Wordle/Nerdle and then spending time and going out with my fiancée. My other qualifications include a GCSE grade 8 in Mathematics. I then went on to achieve a B in Mathematics, A in Financial Studies and a Distinction Star in Creative Media (Games Development) at A Level. Following, I am currently in my second year of studying towards a degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Durham.

ABOUT ME I have a deep interest in history, human and physical geography, anthropology, technology, architecture and engineering. I especially enjoy the history and geography of languages and language families. I am a keen traveller, audiophile and technophile, with a love for all kinds of technologies, analogue and digital, new and old. Thanks to COVID I learnt a lot of DIY skills through necessity. My house also has a garden full of fruit trees, so I guess that would make me an amateur gardener by default. I try to keep fit by cycling when possible, but my favourite sport is swimming. TEACHING EXPERIENCE/PREFERENCES The subjects I teach are History, English Literature and Language for GCSE and A-level, as well as EFL/ESL English. I tend to teach students aged 14+, so from Year 9 to Year 13 or older, but I do have a few students younger than this. I use a variety of teaching approaches, ranging from traditional methods of text analysis to modern forms of teaching, such as interactive quizzes, questionnaires and even YouTube videos if they benefit the students learning style. Exam Board Experience: AQA, Edexcel and OCR in the main. WJEC/Eduqas to a lesser extent. Languages:- English: as a first language to advanced level. Turkish: fluent to college level.
