Hello. I'm Debs, nice to meet you. I tutor a range of subjects, all based on experience of teaching within school, college and less tradiitional settings. I love tutoring one to one as that is the best way to give the student exactly what they need. I teach Sociology, Business and English at GCSE and A level and I have experience of AQA and Edexcel exam boards. I have also taught Btec Business level 1-3 In 2023 I completed a Master's degree in Philosophy as I love learning new things just as much as I love to teach. I make learning fun wherever possible and tailor every lesson to the student's needs. I use a variety of methods so you won't get bored and I am always happy to answer questions and re-explain things. There's no such thing as a silly question! I appreciate people who try, no matter what their ability is, and i love seeing people achieve things that they never dreamed they could. Let me help you do that. Hi! My name is sharmin, I am currently studying Medicine in Manchester and have worked with students of a wide range of ages and requirements. I personally thrive off learning and am a dedicated tutor who understands how important it is to provide students with unique and tailored support to help them not only achieve their study goals but also actively enjoy the learning process. Having faced my own challenging exams, I know what is needed to build up strong study habits and maintain motivation especially when encountering complex study concepts. I am currently about to enter my third year of degree in Medicine at the University of Manchester where I have built up a strong understanding of the sciences particularly Chemistry and Biology as well as application skills. I completed my GCSEs and A levels in Greater Manchester as well with the latter being during the COVID pandemic. In my degree I have spent a lot of time as a peer tutor to people in my class and students in the years of the degree below me in teaching societies. Alongside this I have also tutored students in English Language and Literature GCSE previously as I have always enjoyed the subject and volunteered as a tutor for students in Year 5-6 looking for additional support in their SATs exams.

ABOUT ME I have a deep interest in history, human and physical geography, anthropology, technology, architecture and engineering. I especially enjoy the history and geography of languages and language families. I'm into all sorts of things if I'm honest. I am a keen traveller (but who isn't nowadays), audiophile and technophile, with a love for all kinds of technologies, analogue and digital, new and old. Thanks to COVID I learnt a lot of DIY skills through necessity. My house also has a garden full of fruit trees, so I guess that would make me an amateur gardener by default. I try to keep fit by cycling when possible, but my favourite sport is swimming. TEACHING EXPERIENCE/PREFERENCES The subjects I teach are History, English Literature and Language for GCSE and A-level, as well as ESL English. I tend to teach students aged 14+, so from Year 9 to Year 13 or more mature students for ESL, but I do have a few students younger than this. I use a variety of teaching approaches, ranging from traditional methods of text analysis to modern forms of teaching, such as interactive quizzes, questionnaires and even YouTube videos if they benefit the students learning style. Exam Board Experience: Experience of all English assessment boards, but especially AQA and Edexcel in the, and WJEC/Eduqas and OCR to a lesser extent. Languages: English: as a first language to advanced/professional level. Turkish: fluent to college level, but nor advanced enough for teaching purposes.
