Hi! I’m Mehmood, 19 years old and currently studying medicine (MBBS) at Hull York Medical School. While I absolutely love studying, I have many other passions that burn just as brightly — I’m into sports, gym, and cycling, and I’m always open to trying new ones! Some cool facts about me: I speak English, Pashto and Urdu. Also, I have a 4-year-old tabby cat called Misty, and I’m one of six siblings! I then studied biology, psychology, and chemistry at Loreto Sixth Form College, earning A*AB in my A-levels. During my medical school application, I achieved a UCAT score of 2750 Band 1, securing four medical school interviews and ultimately firming Hull York Medical School—where I am currently studying medicine (MBBS). Alongside my academic journey, I’ve been a private tutor for the past two years, helping students build confidence and achieve top grades in science and math. I also completed a 3-week teaching internship at COOP Academy, delivering science lessons to Year 8 and 9 students. Additionally, I’ve gained valuable clinical experience working in GP practices and hospital settings, consulting with patients and developing strong communication and empathy skills. I am a qualified teacher and I have more than four years of experience in tutoring students online. I specialise in Maths and English and I have experience preparing students for SATs and 11 plus exams. I tutor online only. Furthermore, I use an adaptive teaching style to cater for all different types of learners (kinaesthetic, visual, auditory). I use different teaching approaches as students learn at different rates, have different needs and learning styles. I adapt my approach depending on the student and their needs. For example, I help students practice answering exam style questions by going through past papers. In addition, I prepare for my sessions using baseline assessments to identify areas they are struggling with. I like involving the student in order to create personalised session plans to meet their needs. Also, I set homework tasks for the students to complete in-between lessons to consolidate their learning using the seneca platform. Usually, I use a "I do, we do and you do" structure for my sessions. This tends to consist of a PowerPoint with interactive activities, videos, games, quizzes and exam questions. Some resources I use include Seneca and Twinkl. I ensure that I recap previous learning through retrieval activity at the start of sessions. I address misconceptions through questioning.
