Hello, my name is Helen and I have a BA degree in Criminal Justice Studies from Bradford University. The degree's main subjects were Criminal Law, Psychology, and Forensic Science. My hobbies include watching football, playing tennis, reading, and walking my dog. I have been an online tutor for 3 years. I have taught as an ESL tutor. During this time I have taught people of various ages and abilities. I create a positive learning environment. I personalize learning and create lessons that respond to students' interests. I equip students with the confidence and skills needed to incorporate technology into English language classrooms and for future jobs and life in general. I regularly assess the progress, strengths, and weaknesses of my students and by doing this, I help them fill gaps in their knowledge and learn best. I have a TEFL certificate worth 120 hours of study. I also hold GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths. I also have 4 A - levels including History and Geography and a degree, which I finished in 2003. I celebrated graduating by going to the US.

I have a Masters in Creative Writing Oxford University. I've got a 2:1 from University of Sussex in Drama and Film Studies. I've worked with children ranging from 3 months to 18 years, in formal educational settings and at home. I have experience tutoring in English and Creative Writing at Secondary Level, helping students raise their grades one, two or three levels higher at GCSE and achieving top scores at A Level. I also have experience tutoring English, Creative Writing at a Primary Level as well as KS1 Maths. I am an energetic, passionate young academic with a Bachelors in Arts and an ongoing Masters in Literature, Languages and Cultures department. I have been tutoring for 3 years now and have experience in language tutorship. With my passion for English language and literature, I am sure I could assist any student on the path towards their goals! Lower level: English GCSC: English A-Level: English BA in Film and Media with First Class Honours at Newcastle University; MSc Intermediality: Film, Literature and Art in dialogue at the University of Edinburgh (ongoing).

Since joining GoStudent back in April 2023, I’ve had the incredible privilege of tutoring for over two years — and what a journey it has been! In that time, I’ve not only grown as a teacher but also as a communicator, motivator, and lifelong learner. My lessons are anything but “one-size-fits-all.” Every session is designed to spark curiosity, encourage outside-the-box thinking, and make learning genuinely enjoyable. I love giving students (and their families) the chance to shape the direction of our lessons — because when learning feels personal, progress happens naturally. For me, the most rewarding part of tutoring is watching students go from “I can’t” to “I can.” Whether it’s tackling tricky topics, preparing for exams, or simply rediscovering a love for learning, I’m here to celebrate every step forward and keep that momentum going. I studied at the UCL School of Pharmacy, where I am currently preparing to sit my final MPharm exams following a recent gap period. In October 2022, I proudly graduated with a First-Class MSci in Pharmaceutical Studies, a course that challenged me academically while also sparking my curiosity for problem-solving and research. Beyond the textbooks, I’ve always believed that learning should be creative and enjoyable. That’s why you’ll often find me making colourful, artsy study notes (which are slowly turning into a revision blog!), or bringing a creative twist into my lessons to help tricky concepts click. My education hasn’t just been about exams and grades — it’s also taught me how to stay curious, resilient, and open-minded, and I try to pass that on to every student I work with.
